Fractal Audio Firmware Update Thread

Yes, the MC90 was there before. That cab was my gigging cab for years. The other equipment changed but that cab was a constant.

The first time I heard my AxeFX through an actual cab was with those speakers and the sheer volume and bass that filled the room (someone removed the back of the 2x12) made me laugh my ass off before I could turn it down. I was with a guitarist playing through a 120 watt tube head/halfstack and a drummer playing e-drums through a PA and drowned them both out. It was glorious. :rofl

So today... I turned off poweramp modelling and cab modelling. I plugged the Axe3 into the FX return of my Marshall JVM410HJS. I then had my GigRig G3 switching between a preset on the amp with the FX loop enabled, and another with it disabled. At the same time as using output 1 into the Axe3, or output 2 into the JVM itself. So effectively an A/B situation.

I then dialed up the JS410 Lead Orange model on the Axe3, and dialed it in to match the real amp.

I could barely tell the difference to be quite honest. Amazing sounds from this box.

I love using the rev gen red preamp in the Helix into my jvm power amp. It sounds great at band levels. I'd just as happily use that as the preamp in the jvm.

I really wish Fractal would model the REVV Generator 120 Mk III.

I think Revv have sent them an amp to model.

Hmm I wonder if they'll send me one for my new Multi FX startup? What's the chances they'll buy the idea that the ShoddyBoard is a real thing and about to explode on the internet. @Whizzinby do you want to use your modeller wars skills to photoshop Rabea into some mocked up promotional shots using the new ShoddyBoard?

I'll tell them I need to two units

:rollsafe

That’s impressive, but at that point you might as well just use the amp though, unless you’re wanting to use different preamps with it, as well as effects.

precisement.

I think really it was a good test to show myself that with the right power amplifier, I probably wouldn't give all that much of a toss about using a full on head for live use. I've tried so many times in the past, but it was always with shitty solid state poweramps, because I figured... if I'm gonna do it, then the weight saving aspect is important. But realistically... I think I need tubes and big transformers. The Axe3 aint no slouch as a preamp+effects box!!

The question is... what poweramp out there is most similar to the JVM poweramp, which I believe is similar to a JCM800 poweramp ??
