If this thread is going to live on infamy, I may as well repost the video in the OP

@Jim Soloway Great playing and tone, thanks for reposting the video. I had a similar experience to yours with s-gear - I just couldn’t really make anything else sound as good for my clean tones. I have since moved over to helix/native and I am happy with its grammatico GSG and super reverb for cleans, but I still feel like s-gear has a weight to it that can feel more like playing an amp. I might give this plugin a try.

One of the things I like about this place is that there is a huge variety of styles of players here and they all get along for the most part, but it can be entertaining when they don’t. I guess I have a crude sense of humor, because one of the other things I like about this place is we can joke about everything from Fractal brand sex toys to fellating dogs, but absolutely NO POLITICS. That’s just crossing the line.

I’d rather talk about fellating dogs than politics 8 days a week 🫦🐶

Oh man, I LOVE S-Gear. But tbh, I'm not sure my focus was on cleans. The Marshall tones are outstanding though.

Here's something I can do to give you a bit more clarity ... I'm working on a project now that should be done in a day or two. I can output a few versions with both S-Gear and Noir tones, both with and without an eternal IR loader. It's easy for me to do just using existing patches and we can compare an contrast all four of them. If all goes well I can probably post it on Monday.

S-Gear was my go to plug for everything for a long time, until I bought a Kemper. I’ve been thinking about re-purchasing the latest version and going back to it, because it’s so convenient to have everything in the box.

I’m really not much of a marshall player, but the wayfarer pretty much puts every other blackface fender sim I have tried to shame. I compared it to the dream 65 plugin and it wasn’t even close. The 57 tweed is really good too and so is the dumble thing, whatever it’s called. The scuffham amps feel dynamic and touch responsive, helix can feel a bit compressed in comparison. It’s crazy that s-gear is like a decade old and it sounds as good as it does. I love having access to all of the effects in helix though. I use them together when recording.

I just hated the Dream 65 plugin. I'm sure some people got some decent tones out of it but I was never able to anything that I would consider using.

The UAD amps have to be some of the most overrated gear ever. The dream 65 to me sounded thin and brittle with no clean headroom, it did not live up to the hype at all. I wasn’t impressed with the ruby either.
