This is a great strategy actually be a minimalist a lot easier dealing with 5 or 10 presets than 512
It does, that's enough for a four hour set. I do use the same couple amps for the whole night though. Just adding in various effects depending on the song.
On the plus side FAS has a good management system
With HX stuff; it's even probably more of a reason to have a clean slate. There is NOTHING in any of those factory presets I want in my presets. Stock amp tones are usually not good to my ears and I use my own IRs and favorited fx blocks.I've literally got 3 presets on my Axe III and 5 on my Helix!
Honestly, I feel like that about pretty much most devices. The stock Fractal presets for my needs are pretty trash. Way too vintage sounding, a lot of them smothered in effects that fit better at a church than a grotty London metal venue, and some of them are obviously just "here's a proof of concept preset to illustrate the features" - which is all fine. But I don't use any of them.
Agreed. Though I like the pre tweaked effects chains you get with FAS presets. With FAS; I want the routing stuff already setup. I am not a fan of recreating things on there especially if they are already done for you. Helix is dead simple so it's easy to setup a convoluted signal chain and configure switching without the editor.
It's all pop bullshit, basically.
