NMD: NDSP Quad Cortex

Tbf there’s quite a few good amp models in the QC that aren’t in the plugins yet. Uberschall, Recto, Tremoverb, Plexi, Super Bass, JCM900 4100, JTM45, Jubilee, Diezel Herbert/VH4
There’re quite a few amp models that are in the plugins, but aren’t in the QC. 😂

Also, TBF, they would be paywalled off too if there were relevant signature artists known for any of those that they could do an "Archetype" for...
QC didn’t paywall BE100, the various 5150’s, 2203, Bogner’s etc. The JP2C in QC is arguably more useful than the Archetype versions. I actually think most of the Archetype amps are in the QC already as full models and the ones left are Fortin/Tone King.

I’m not a QC owner (and don’t see myself buying one), but besides Fortin Cali/Nameless/NTS, and Tone King I think the models basically cover it all already? Seems like it’s more the fx and presets that would be most useful to port

Terribly sorry for not following the QC plugin compatibility debate as thoroughly as I possibly should.
I’d never presume you should follow QC debates on my account, but I have more than once thought that you would have a real appreciation for the QC’s UI. If only it had global blocks, it would be ideal for you.

This whole plugin compatibility at the expense of adding fx in free updates to their expensive flagship is a huge reason why I sold mine. When they did port fx from the plugins, it's totally half-assed like a harmonizer with a choice of major, minor and chromatic scales.

If you look at their updates in the past few years, they really haven't done much to add value to the QC. What's stopping them from porting, say, the tape echo from Asato to the QC? Couldn't be that they want you to pay for it.

Oh, quite definitely.

Well, and more distance between the switches.
Seriously, that alone could be a showstopper for me.
Yeah, I've said it a thousand times, but the QC really does best as a desktop/ music stand/ whatever device. Get a foot controller that suits you better, and make the most of the hands-on UI.

the Foot Captains are simple, sturdy, and effective.

I was just reading that they require using a TRS cable (apparently because that's part of their "trickery" to offer two different polarities). That's pretty bad as you can hardly get super flat patch cables with TRS connections, which pretty much leaves you with frying pan plugs as the smallest option. Maybe not exactly a deal breaker, still sort of annoying as it's a step away from plug and play.

Yeah, I could see where that might limit your options, depending on what your target device(s) support.

It's not exactly limiting, just adding some annoyance.
In terms of low-profile connectors, yes, just an annoyance. But your first post got me Googling (boredom strikes again LOL), and it looks like an expression pedal that requires TRS would rule out certain configurations, like TS Expression + TS footswitch, on TRS-aware devices that support it (e.g. HX Stomp).

From what the graphics in the manual show, you really only need TRS on the Foot Captain's side - but you could basically connect it to any bog standard TS cable on the receiving side (you only need to make sure to decipher things properly or just try them out). Hence, you could as well come up with another adapter (or soldered solution) to use a dual function TRS plug on the receiving side. From all I gather, the TRS thing on the Foot Captain side is really only there to allow for out of the box single operation with pretty much all units without having to care.
IMO it'd be a lot better if they rather added two switches (maybe nicely hidden behind some cover) allowing for a) polarity inversion and maybe b) pot taper inversion (so down becomes up and vice versa). Both should be possible with rather little effort, from all I know.

Ok this is awesome… :love
