OK, finally got to gig this badboy on the weekend!
A few thoughts:
- overall it sounded insanely great on all three channels (crunch, clean, IIB pushed/gritty clean, all at 90W), VERY happy with the tones and feel
- switching channels + reverb and/or GEQ on/off via midi with VP4 presets and scenes is
- the VII + Recto 2x12 is an extremely badass and versatile setup that is deceivingly low-profile, overall, but can sound absolutely huge and punchy and hold its own with a loud drummer + bass player using a 1x15 + 2x10, haha
- I LOVE the size and weight of the MVII head, it's super easy to tote around and deal with, really crazy when you think of the power and flexibility inside
- the CabClone out sounded alright, but setting it up was more fussy and involved than just using the Friedman Mic No Mo, and frankly didn't sound as good
> I didn't realize you have to set the input and output levels, and that this needs to be done at full band volume, which is kind of tricky when you're setting up in a quiet venue, before all the racket has started

> it isn't ideal that the input/output knobs + levels/clip lights are on the back of the head during this process, but I get that there's no where else for them to go
> however I'm hoping it's a set-and-forget thing, and that one of the other virtual cab/IR options will sound better (didn't have time to mess around with trying other ones, just used the Recto 2x12 setting, which to my ears sounded scooped, with sharp highs, coming out the PA)
> related to that process ^^^, it was very cool that I could unplug my actual cab and hear only what was coming out the PA mains, as the VII doesn't need a loaded connected
> I did have the thought, "Sheesh, just throwing a real 57 in front of the cab is actually easier, wtf..."
- in general, I need to get my brain used to having three channels with separate controls for everything + so many knobs and mini-toggles to check beforehand on the VII, as it was kind of stressful/overwhelming when combined with setting the PA up, especially coming from the Dyne with its 6 big knobs, lol, plus the VP4 in 4cm with midi, but this should get better with experience and hopefully more regular gigging (we've been on a several months-long hiatus)
