NMD: NDSP Quad Cortex

Anyway, I'll have to slap it all back together one of these days and post a picture here.
I put everything back together to take some "vanity shots" this morning. The hardest part was disconnecting the 600 wires I have connected when it's on desk duty. I pulled the battery out of storage after about a year and a half of inaction, and everything powered right up, with the battery at about 80% capacity.

Look ma, no wires! Shown here with wireless MIDI and wireless guitar dongles for good measure. Just run one cable to your monitor or guitar amp FX return and... :chef

Love it! Now that is a super sleek setup. :love

So I'm starting to get antsy about the Metro 16 on order, as it's been over a week and haven't heard a peep from L&M (their website says you'll hear from them in 1-4 days about an expected arrival date).

Went to the PT site to look at other options that L&M does have in stock, and I see this at the top :

How do you like the Hotone expression pedal? Is the build quality robust?

What your Surprised? they have Nothing I ever want or need
They are my last resort go to
Fuck Long and Mcwait

:rofl I hear you, but I've generally had very good experiences with them (and that's with a TON of purchases, over the years).

Also, I think it depends on the location, and they're very different from store to store? I'm lucky to be near three decent ones that are all 15 min away (and there's about 10 other locations within a one-hour radius of me, no joke).

Yes I suppose that's true for me though its the total opposite

Yeah, I wondered if maybe you're only near one, and that one sucks?

One thing that bums me out is how they're gradually closing the old locations and re-opening them in new buildings with a homegenized, big-box feel to them all. :(

Overall, I like it a lot. The treadle isn't the smoothest, and you can't switch the TRS polarity, but if it works with your specific target device, then you're good. (My QC is fine with it, but my Paint Audio MIDI Captain isn't. I get that weird, "peak value near center sweep, back to heel down reading at toe down position" thing.) It's cheaper than a Dunlop DVP4 mini, and I personally prefer the look and shape of the Hotone (especially on this board).

Coincidentally, Hotone just released a new version with a toe switch, which is a really cool feature. I'm not crazy about the cosmetics, though:

Another sleeper for small boards is the Paint Audio Foot Captain. It has independent outputs for both polarities, which is a simple, switchless way of addressing that problem. No frills finish, sometimes as cheap as $60 or so:

I think i'm going to order a couple of those Foot Captains. They look pretty good . Are you using one?

How's the travel range on this compared to the Hotone? I have a Hotone Soulpress II, I'd bet it's exactly the same pedal mechanism (and hence travel range) as their EXP pedals and it's absolutely perfect for me - but the Foot Captain might be a nice additional one for somewhat less money.

I think the Foot Captain actually has a slightly wider sweep, mechanically. It's definitely a little smoother. But don't quote me on that (yet). I'll check it later today and get back.
