I'm Just Curious..., How Many Here Own a Fractal, and Who Doesn't?

Which one(s) do you own?

Actually not sure about that. I think a touchscreen isn't something you want to have on a stage floor, at least I don't. I'd vastly prefered a wireless mobile platform editor.
The QC, being pretty much the Helix user interface with a touchscreen, shows that those same concepts are nicer to operate without having to move a cursor around.

I see no issue with touchscreens on floor devices. Usually they are designed so that you aren't stomping on them on accident or anything. I'm more annoyed by having to crouch or bend down to adjust anything on floor units regardless of how they operate.

Apparently the original working prototypes for Helix had a touchscreen. I imagine it got canned during development to meet budget goals.

I don't mind the navigation in Helix one bit, to be honest. A touchscreen might make certain task faster / more comfortable, but i don't think it'd be the seismic change most expect it would be.

I mean, I'm not riding a horse for 2 days to get to the next gig anymore, either.
Damn…that’s dedication!

It’s tempting, for sure. I have always been a little put off by the fact they aren’t available in local retailers but I’ll probably get over that aspect eventually. How is the support if something goes wrong? In the UK we are fairly well protected when buying from retailers but I have no experience of buying direct from distributors - not in a ‘citizen’ capacity, anyway.

Their customer service is top notch.

@fazer +1 on FAS customer support being quite good. I have dealt with them a few times and I always get an email from a real person within 1-2 business days. When I had to send in an item for repair that was no longer under warranty they charged a very reasonable bench fee and then replaced my old unit with a totally new unit (at no additional cost shipped for free) when the tech couldn't reproduce the issue at the bench. FAS hires good people and they stand behind their products.
