I'm Just Curious..., How Many Here Own a Fractal, and Who Doesn't?

Which one(s) do you own?

Unfortunately, we are surrounded by turn coats!!!

Wish the 35% had chimed in with what they are using instead.

Used to use a Helix Floor until around summer 2022 but eventually got too annoyed by a bunch of things, so I went with a hybrid approach. On my current main board there's a NUX Amp Academy for cleans and an Amplifirebox MkI as a pedal platform for dirt stuff (pedals are all analog). There's an HX Stomp as well on the board but right now it's used for delays/reverbs only. I may rethink that and split the Stomp into an amp and FX section, simply because the new amp models are partially gorgeous, in that case the Amplifirebox could go. Fwiw, the board is controlled through a Mooer PL 6 loop switcher (possibly to be replaced one day).

Thought about going back to mostly analog for recording duties (undusting a modified Laney LC50 and a Soldano SP77, then running them into a load and a speaker sim), but the sounds I'm getting from my board are so good the additional efforts (and money) could hardly be justified.

As far as FAS units go, the FM9 would be something I'd love to check, but I'd only ever buy it in case global blocks are coming to it. In that case, I might think about getting somewhat along with that special european fee...

I've owned everything but Fractal....go figure :columbo

I currently have Line6 LT, Nux-mg30, and Headrush Gigboard (gamechanger). Only the LT was purchased new. The others I got for bargain prices.

I still think the vox valvetronix SE was the schitt. First modeler that "felt" right to me (I know :horse)

So guess what I'm using most? A vox mystic edge with either superblock US or some smaller tube heads. Because it's a quick setup for jamming with my buddies.

Also just got the Amplifire mkii on sale. Why? Because My mindset is stuck in the gigging musician frame.

Yet, I have only gigged a few times in the last few years since the covid "crisis" and I'm about ready to scale back after 50 years of gigging.

It's tough for me to realize that my life has changed. I don't mean emotionally (although there's a little of that) but habitual thinking that I need to find the "best" gear for my gigging needs.

I Love the LT. Best value in gear I've ever bought. Even with all that I've been very close to buying an FM3 and would not rule it out.

How’s the KSR stuff as a preamp? I have a Gahenna and it’s a bit of a bummer how bad it sounds (to me) as a preamp. It performs much better as a distortion pedal.

I use the pre-amp more than the head! I might just sell the Ares because it's somewhat redundant.

But it sounds good straight into a power amp or even just an IR?

I'm using it into a Samson 120A SS rack amp and then into a guitar speaker so I can't speak for IRs. I'm only using one channel but will mess with stereo one of these days. I attenuate my tube heads and then re-amp them thru the same Samson so comparing the KSR Ares with the Vesta is pretty apples to apples. This thing is a big improvement over the Duncan Powerstage-170 I had.

Still using EVH tube amps, and a mesa cab clone to record.

I gotta say if I wasn't so enamored with my Helix LT, I have an analog pedalboard rig (sans any poly drop stuff) that just melds with my Marshall Origin 50 head beautifully. I am working on one to go with my EVH 5150 III EL34 50w. I may just end up using either the LT or my Headrush MX5 in 4cm for that though.

HIDE! NOW! Folks round here don't take to us Headrush fans...
The game changer comment was an allusion to the crazy thread at TOP.
However I did do a few corporate-type gigs with it. The smaller form factor was good considering we had about a dozen players (horn section, extra vocalists, etc.)

I liked the way it sounded too :bag

WHat is TOP? The Oppression Page? I thought I had coined the term TFP "The Fascist Page"

No FAS unit over here. Unfortunately - but at those stupid european prices I simply can't justify it (no 2nd hand market pretty much at all, either).

These chocolates they put on the box must contain some expensive drug :rofl

Fractal Audio FM3 Mk II Turbo
FAS: $1,099.99 $999.99
G66: €1.469 = $1,611
Thailand (official distributor): ฿44,995 = $1,200

I got mine for $900 including shipping form Japan (second hand deal through the FAS forum classifieds)
