The Digital Doubt

I just jumped 10 pages and before I could even finish thinking “JFC there’s no way they could still be talking about squirrels”…boom.

Guess I’ll tune in after another 10 pages. This entire forum is a testament to untreated ADHD. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Apparently pickles are yesterday's news. Now it's all about squirrel meat. Fried our baked?

Squirrel the other other white meat

When I was in College (briefly!) I rented an upstairs Apt from a Polish/Ukrainian
couple. Day I moved in he was boiling a big pot of Pigeons up. :clint I saw a Racoon
carcass (roadkill delivery from his son!) on the Kitchen Counter one time when I
came back from classes. Some very interesting smells came out of that place.

They also fought like I have never heard in my life since. :horse

Polish. Hardest working people. When my wife and I lived in a small appartement, in that same small appartement our neigbors where polish workers. They lived with 10 people in there. That place must have been full of matrasses only.

I had a ground hog burrowing under the slab of my garage/office a couple summers ago. Trapped it, drove four miles away to what was some prime ground hog habitat and let it go knowing full well its chance of survival following that upheaval was not very high. Was telling a friend about it and he told me about doing same and how the thing pissed and shit all over his car while relocating it. Of all the precautions I took, I didn’t even consider that possibility…

They have a much better chance of survival than you may think. They adapt to their surroundings pretty fast if it is not in the middle of a city.

I dunno...the data I've looked at is not promising.
I am originally from the mid-west. I know of many racoons and groundhogs that have been relocated. They always seemed to be just fine, especially if they were dropped off near some farm fields with good stuff to eat. The farmers hated them, the groundhogs. They can eat up a lot of crop in no time. That is one of the reasons they would get relocated, or worse.

Foxes have moved into my neighborhood over the past decade.

Before that, there were lots of rabbits and groundhogs (that would destroy the flower boxes).

Now there are foxes. No groundhogs. No rabbits.

Another animal that is really good at catching and eating rabbits is the barn cat. They will get more rabbits in a year than a good hunter will, by far.
