Fractal Audio Firmware Update Thread

Nah. Just clarifying the difference between a bona fide iconoclast, like Carlin, and someone who has a
penchant for tossing his stones around on the Internet and making girls cry when their most cherished
beliefs are crushed before their eyes, and by someone they don't know, and who may have below average
intelligence to begin with.
Oi!! I am right here you know!!!

York Audio hasn't put out anything new in quite a while...
York Audio hasn't put out anything new in quite a while...
...just sayin'.
He and Cliff are also both posting
Test shots of mics
And someone said that IR is great will it be available in York pack
To which he replied

This cab will definitely be a product with all the bells and whistles, however, it isnā€™t the pre-Rola Marshall cab. Thatā€™s all I can say for now.

Iā€™m also guessing this is being done with York, which is fine with me because those are the only IRā€™s I care about these days.

I actually just started messing with some room mics in my AxeFX for this weekā€™s challenge, the IIC++ preset uses 4 IRā€™s and two of them being a room IR and a back of the cab IR. Theyā€™re barely mixed in but they do add a bit of body to the tone. Nothing anyone could pick out listening to it in a track but isolated they could probably hear it.

Contrary to whatā€™s often said on forums from Fractal Camp survivors, Cliff isnā€™t exactly a hype machine and his baseline already contains ā€œall the bells and whistlesā€, so if heā€™s talking about it like that Iā€˜m assuming heā€™s pretty excited about it and itā€™s going to cover a lot of ground.

I am thinking it going to be CabLab 4 kind of a Mikko on steroids
With impedance curves and matching , speakers cabs and mic models

So anyone check out that new IR Cliff posted? If you did did it make you immediately want to
FAP in front of a picture of Fractal Headquarters? :idk

I need to give it a listen. OS Mesa Cab so I am thinking paired with a Recto might be fun.

Where is it posted?

No fap, but it did sound really good!

I plugged my Heatley Tradition (LP style) into the Axe-Fx 3, loaded a preset with Plexi 100 Jumped set to a crunch tone that cleans up with picking, set up the IR in the cab block, a bit of room reverb...sounded pretty great. I'd say better than the 4x12 Pre-Rola GB 57 + 121 factory IRs I had been using in this preset.

If this is what the new cab block can deliver, I think it will be pretty awesome!

I'm going to give it a go this evening I think.

I note that "New Member" Stonetone, from Canada (with EVH avatar) has been active on that IR thread over at the FAS Forum. šŸ•µļøā€ā™‚ļø

It really is just a matter of time now, until @Stone rents a holiday cottage in Fastown. I'm counting the days! :D
hahahaha Yeah been a member there for a while most often I just Lurk ...

Apparently I accidentally bought your FM3 out from under him.

Had I known - I wouldā€™ve let him have it so he can join the club.

Nah, enjoy it, man. Stone is cool. I offered it to him privately before I put it out there on the open (TGF) market. Timing was wrong for him.

I'm sure there'll be other opportunities for our FAS-curious friend. I mean, knowing what I'm like... if he waits around long enough, he might snag a discounted FM9T from me some day!

And then @Mongillo19 put his FM3 up for sale afterwards. Also, @JiveTurkey still has his OG FM9 up for sale, I think?

It's off the market. Unless someone local walks up with cash in hand. The last recording tones I got with it was :chef to my ears.

Yeah, I feel like a fool for spurning mine to give the QC a chance as long as I did. I just did a weekend getaway/music composing-recording sabbatical with my regular guys. FM9 was sooo freakin' clutch. Both for core tones across a ton of genres and more esoteric factory patches....saved us from having to plug in the analog synths a few times. All factory patches that I just tweaked by turning up presence or treble to taste for my pickups (Aside from the acoustic sim patch I made myself).

Ended up not touching a single @2112 or Gift of Tone preset - which are usually my jam - the entire time.

It's super simple to get killer tones.

I just ordered a desk stand for it. I want to grab a footswitch cover of some sort but don't want anything from Ceba and not going to order from whatever AntarticaRigs FM kit or whatever that is 47000 miles away.
