Interesting did not see anything on the new Dyna cab defaults but there was a lot of stuff in that updateGreat update!
Hard to keep tabs on everything that was jammed into FW23. Gapless switching is incredible just on its own.
But we got new reverbs, tremolo, chorus, delay, all kinds of stuff.
Made a basic preset with the new tape chorus and dual tape delay, it sounds amazing.
Also really digging the new defaults for Dyna Cabs, now at least it's a starting point.

I can, but it’s not a conversation for a public forum….
What do you mean, "dyna cab defaults"?Interesting did not see anything on the new Dyna cab defaults but there was a lot of stuff in that update
On loading the cabs load up to a default distance and positionWhat do you mean, "dyna cab defaults"?
Dyna Cabs were FW22.
Is that something new in the editor? Because the release notes for the unit itself didn't mention that.On loading the cabs load up to a default distance and position

Maybe it is related to the new "Cab Smoothing" dial in the "Cab More" section. Don't know, just sayin', something was updated for the cabs block that could affect stuff. On loading the cabs load up to a default distance and position
That's pretty pointless, I think... Or anti-point (did I invent a word, there?), given the whole idea of DynaCabs is for you to put the mic where you like it.On loading the cabs load up to a default distance and position

Well I mean you can put it where you like it still. Ears know best or whatever but it is nice to have a recommended starting point for those who are new to mics and cabsThat's pretty pointless, I think... That's not the default anymore from my understanding. Not really - I never want an SM7 at 0 distance right in the centre of the cap. There can be defaults that are slightly more sensible than that, surely?

Position 5 and 4.8cm away is the new defaultThat’s what I’ve been hoping for. Anything but 0,0 !

So how is that better / more sensible for all mics/cabs than 0/0?Position 5 and 4.8cm away is the new default
Yeah that's where I got my sourceHas anyone verified these settings from the hardware and not Axe-Edit?

I tried the position out and to me it's a bit dark. I think the distance is fine but a position around 4.00 would work better for all mics - has some bite but not harsh. If the change was intentional, someone at FAS felt that was the best starting point for Dynacabs. Whether I agree will be determined but I trust the ones who made them to start me off on a good baseline
It's all about how quickly you can get good results and how easy it is for new users to jump in and get a good tone in a preset made from scratch.I'm surprised there's so much push for a default position on a movable mic.
