Fractal Audio Firmware Update Thread

AI art is going to become the new GIF.

On topic though, I can’t wait for this to hit the FM9. I’m not a massive user of spring, but there’s a particular sound I like to use with a moderately gained up amp, an Octaver, and tight spring reverb that sounds killer. The better the spring drip, the better the tone.

Eh, I’ve seen Cliff say that before, and while it’s true if you want it to be authentic to how people ran the old Reverb units like Fender into a Fender amp, yes. However, if you’re looking for a Mesa Lonestar tone with Spring reverb, it would be in after the amp. I actually do prefer it after the amp, personally.
Based on what?

That would imply the reverb circuit was able to handle power amp levels, which I wouldn't expect.

As per this schematic (no idea how accurate it is), the reverb follows the Tone stack:

This one looks the same:

Yes, the reverb is post tonestack, so putting in front of the amp isn’t going to sound like how the amp sounds. The closest you Can get with a modeler where the amp block lacks an effects loop is to put it after the amp block, but before the cabinet.

EDIT

A few of the other Boogies are also not only post-tonestack, but also post effects loop too, so all of the other effects will generally go before the spring reverb too. Again, it completely depends on the sound you’re looking to emulate. If it‘s a classic Fender that‘s one thing. If it’s a more modern amp with a loop, it could be different.

Boogie amps are ones I had in mind. IIRC, Vox also.

Editor software update for FW23 for the Axe.

This guy!! Cliff is so dedicated!

They ought to add into the high school curriculum, something along the lines of what a person is capable of doing with their passions, and off the top of my head, 2 guys come to mind:

Cliff Chase
Paul Reed Smith

They should be studied just as much as Bill Gates & Steve Jobs, to show just what someone can do with an idea.

Cliff Notes: longer than the actual text :rofl

I was waiting for this. When I saw the CPU reports re: FW23, I could hear @laxu in my tiny, tiny brain: “I always wait for x.01 because there’s usually something small that sneaks into x.0.”

Great update!

Hard to keep tabs on everything that was jammed into FW23. Gapless switching is incredible just on its own.

But we got new reverbs, tremolo, chorus, delay, all kinds of stuff.

Made a basic preset with the new tape chorus and dual tape delay, it sounds amazing.

Also really digging the new defaults for Dyna Cabs, now at least it's a starting point.
