What are we watching now?

Watching all of the “Saw” movies in succession. I ran across “Saw X” and it’s gotten ok reviews. I’ve seen the first couple and figured I’d watch them all before watching the latest installment.

I’m not a horror movie fan one bit, but can’t find anything else to watch at the moment.
We just watched Saw X for the second time. I think they always do a great job (for a horror franchise, if nothing else) at keeping the story continuity going in the right direction. Even when the acting skills are usually at a soap opera actor level at best.

I liked X a LOT. The last Chris Rock one was not enjoyable, imo.

I think Emma Roberts is in it again? A retread of season 1 would be super weird but of course right up their annoy the audience alley :rofl I'll probably throw on an episode once it's done and see if it drives us nuts  I think the last season I watched was 1984. That was solid. I didn't watch last season.

That is really, really bizarre.

I’m having a Mandela Effect moment; I remember starting the first episode of the new season with Emma Roberts, I wasn’t feeling like watching so I went to my studio and left it on in the living room, I remember hearing the dialogue and thinking it sounded familiar, then coming out to grab a drink and watching a minute or two; it was basically Murder House but it was a a g*y couple with a different looking daughter than the actual Murder House. The daughter found the gimp suit, they found out she was watching hardcore BDSM porn….it was all exactly the same as Murder House just different characters.

I’m watching the 1st episode again and none of that is occurring. I went back and looked at other seasons to see if an episode like that even exists and there’s none that I can see, nor did I re-watch the first episode as it hasn’t even been watched on this account. I’m perplexed.

We haven't started it. For all reasons you are describing above  :rofl

I got a few episodes in last night. It’s a bit slow and Kim Kardashian……I just can’t take that character seriously at all. I don’t know what her thing is, but I do not believe it’s acting based off this show. I know what they were going for but her lines are so cringey and poorly delivered, adding in the fake lips it’s like watching a live action caricature. I fell asleep as it start getting into answering some of what was going on and I think that’ll either make or break it for me. The supernatural stuff doesn’t do it for me and if it goes in that direction I’ll most likely bail.

I forgot how traumatic The Bear is. I barely made it through a couple of the
episodes with 5 people yelling non-stop for 30 minutes straight. And Jamie
Lee Curtis and Bob Odenkirk show up. Wow.

Acting is so fucking :chef .

Yeah, I was definitely triggered more than once.

I do not do well with the yells IRL.

A couple of standout episodes for sure. Jon Bernthal, too.... and more
filling in of the backstory.

It took me several minutes to figure out who Donna was.

Mental illness and addiction are so :( Together. Ugh. :brick

S2 lost me. Waaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much anxiety.

The biggest reason I’ve stayed away from that show is because I need to watch it when I won’t get legit kitchen nightmares. I’m sure I’ve said it before about that show, but it’s the most accurate display of what working in a kitchen is like, that episode with the tickets coming out of the printer…..I have a mild form of PTSD from that fucking printer sound. :rofl

There's some redemption for a couple of characters in S2....
just have to get to it past the Tidal Wave of screaming in tight spaces.

I had to give up on the family dinner episode. So many great actors but just I could not do it. I wanted to scream shut the f****** f*** up to every actor in that entire episode.

Recap from last few weeks: Billions (final episode coming this week), finished Silo, Blackbird, watching Morning Show with the wife, gave up on Westworld Season 4 (for the third time), finally started the Last Of Us.

Sounds like a show I want to watch...but just won't. I can't stand the "everyone is screaming over each other" stuff even in small doses.

Oh, it's there, for sure.... but throughout Season 2 they try and redeem themselves
and work on being better in relationships. Kind of that raised in a traumatic environment,
and drawn to a traumatic environment, and then realizing how fucked up it is, and
working to find a way out.

Season 2 Forks episode is all kinds of modern-day Zen, too. 30 minute episoodes makes
it a breeze to get through, too. It is also beautifully shot. :chef

Watched a couple of things last night.

Hell House LLC: Carmichael Manor. Origin story, found footage style like the rest. If you can deal with some shakycam; it's creepy af. Good mix of supernatural slasher without being campy. Very good.

Started The Mick series as well. Basically; it's Dee doing her best Uncle Buck impression. If you can visualize that; you know exactly what it is. Short to the point and hilarious if you dig dumb, raunch-adjacent sitcoms.

Started watching fall of the house of usher last night. Not bad so far, I generally enjoy Flanagan's shows despite the often excessive "never ending monologue disguised as dialogue" stuff. Episode 2 def had an "oh shit!" ending

I can solve this mystery for you: you were sound asleep and dreaming. Which is the only appropriate response to this season of American Horror Story.

We're like 5 episodes (spanning 6 centuries) in and this is our list of thrills of chills so far: famous yet boring person has a difficult pregnancy; boyfriend is vaguely dickish about it. There's obviously a horror angle (and even a big "moment" after about 5 grueling hours, but... y-a-w-n.)

I can answer this for you, hulu probably concluded the available episodes of the new season, and then autoplayed American Horror Stories which is a spin off anthology show with plot lines lasting for one episode each. What you described is the first episode of season 1 of said spin off
