Echo and I could use some good vibes right now

Kids are 'spensive!

That's good news on the Echo front. :beer

Are you muzzling him when out now, or just short-leashing him??

I tried one muzzle that he figured out how to rip off immediately. Huskies are Houdinis on a whole other level.

I just watch him VERY closely and don't let him scavenge for shit on the ground more than I did previously. I used to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was just sniffing a pee spot, but if it's an inch under the grass, it's no-go. It's not too tough, he has different ways of smelling things and when it comes to food you'll see him get almost manic about it, which is what made me think it's from being starved in his previous life. Yesterday morning he was trying to find food, I had to pull him up by his leash to get his head off the ground and his mouth was biting the air nonstop, trying to get back down to the ground, it's like "I NEED THIS IN ME NOW OR I'M GOING TO DIE", despite having a full bowl of food inside the apartment.

The few times I've had to pull something out of his mouth he actually lets me pull his mouth open now, before it was a steel trap. I think a part of him understands he shouldn't be doing it but his instinct is too ingrained at this point.

I am glad that he has recovered fully.

I am fond of my friend's dog "Wolfie" who is a labrador. He doesn't hug like some other dogs I have seen do it. He will kiss you and sit beside you, leaning on your body.

Hahah Echo is a hugger!

It scares people that don't know him, there's a lot of people from Haiti who live in my apartment complex and dogs in Haiti aren't exactly like the dogs in the US, people are taught to fear them from a young age because most of the dogs have rabies. So when Echo comes running up and tries to hug them they get scared. But for the people who know him, it's one of the coolest things he does!

Earlier this summer my buddy dislocated his leg so bad he tore like all the tendons - it costed a whopping 6k that I had to charge to my credit card, and a 2 month post op recovery. His surgery was in October, and he did fine, and now he’s a lot slower and shows his age (12 years old). He still thinks he’s a pup, though.

From what I have read, there is more possibility of getting an infection from a dog bite (tetanus) than rabies.

I was once accidentally bit by an over enthusiastic pet chihuahua. I had bought him his favourite - chicken, and he was excited to sniff it. He was vaccinated but the doctor still put me on antibiotic meds for few days, because I had bled a few drops.

People seem to be afraid of strays, specially in developing countries because they are not vaccinated unlike pet dogs.

I think of strays as community pets. If you feed them every day, they won't be anxious and think of you as cruel and bite you.
