Echo and I could use some good vibes right now

We played some of his favorite game today; kitchen hockey, and he had quite a bit more energy than previous days. My friend who watches him occasionally came over and it was the happiest I’ve seen him yet, he jumped right into her arms to give her a hug and was probably saying in doggie speak “Get me out of here! Dadda isn’t letting me do ANYTHING!” :ROFLMAO:

Pretty sure I know how a lot of parents feel when dealing with their sick kids or anytime they need to put their foot down for the kid’s own good. It’s like being a helpless meanie who doesn’t want any fun to occur.

Yeah, pain is absolutely not anything I’ll use to train any dog.

I’ll give this a shot but that muzzle is still going to get used. He did it again today, the second I turned my head he dove for a piece of paper like his life depended on it. It’s dumbfounding how intelligent he is in some areas and then just a lunatic in others.

Probably trauma tied to survival. :idk That kind of shit has been shown to alter how our
genes work as humans in our development, and then those changes can be passed onto our
descendants. Crazy shit! 7 generations and all that jazz.

So many messed up coping mechanisms that have served their purpose (we survived!), and are no
longer necessary still get reenacted because, "We can't help ourselves."

Epigenetics is fascinating stuff. The great news is those genetic changes can be altered and undone ----you
guessed it, through positive environments. :banana

The Floof Master has had a full recovery!!

Saturday was his last day on his meds and once those wore off he was a ball of energy and right back to his old self! Had his first long walk on Sunday and the immense gratitude I had watching his tail wagging as he darted from one piss-soaked tree/mailbox to the next was good for the soul.

He’s considerably more affectionate and snuggly now, which isn’t a problem with me, outside of waking up with a mouthful of fur at total random!

What really blew me away was his wound healing like it did. I was a bit panicked on Friday because he was clearly licking it when I was sleeping and the scab wasn’t looking so great, but Saturday the scab came off completely and it barely looked like he even had surgery!

Thank you all very much for the support, kind words/thoughts and the donations (that actually helped considerably, non-monetarily)!!!!

I am so glad. Very happy to see him recovered/ recovering now.

They are eager to get back to normal routine.

We humans are blessed to have them as our companions.

He is so gorgeous. When he has completely recovered, we forum members will be happy to hear a recording of song performed by both of you. Something like this:

Dogs are adorable creatures. Doesn't matter whether his singing is in sync etc. :)

I read the first post here just now, and I couldn't read the rest, because I've dealt with similar situations with our dogs, and it just brought up too many memories I can't deal with. I'm so very glad he's recovered! When you baby has troubles, it's just the absolute worst, and when your baby recovers, there's nothing better.

Best of luck to your family (dogs are most indeed family). Happy to hear he has fully recovered.

My boy blew out his knee a few months ago (the darling dog, Mozart, in my avatar). Apparently a luxating patella is common in the smaller breeds. I had a 5000 dollar surgery option with a “who knows” prognosis and something called Spryng which is some sort of gel they put in the knee joint. Set us back about 2k. After a few days he was jumping up on furniture and I wanted to cry I was so happy. He has a limp but it is very slight and seems otherwise just fine.
