What are we watching now?

For courtroom films, I highly recommend The Verdict from 1982, which is directed by Sidney Lumet, the same guy who made the original 12 Angry Men. Paul Newman is incredible in that, and the writing is just the best.

Just watched the Lockerbie series. I liked it. It was good how they zeroed in on one main aspect, and I was surprised by all the geopolitical angles to the whole thing (although I shouldn't have been), and that finding the entire truth is still ongoing. Even though that last part wasn't covered in the show.

It was interesting to say the least, to see that younger person at the end not know what it was. :(

I've watched Molly's Game a few times now, and I really like it, and I get a bit more from it each time. But I have one issue with
her refusal at the end to give up the hard drives, claiming that she would lose her "name", then telling her lawyer the reason is because "It's all I have left."

To that, I yell at the screen, NO! You have 5 MILLION dollars. And like it or not, the ultimate reason we work is for money, because it can be traded for whatever else you want, with very few exceptions, of which the list of exceptions gets increasingly small, the more you have. Sure, we also work because, if you're fortunate, you love what you do, and/or you're making a difference in the world, but at the end of the day, having your $5M back, and you can ignore any of the negatives that "losing your good name" would cause.

Heck, just the thought of what she would very likely encounter in prison, would be enough for pretty much anyone to take the deal. So I kinda think they wrote this part into the plot just to achieve a bit more drama towards the end. Cuz it just ain't real.

Have you seen The English? If you dug American Primeval it is very similar. Probably
better shot with a tad more light. AP was a bit bleak---in trying to match the darkness
of the subject matter.
I have not but thank you. On my list.

I put Emily Blunt up there with actresses like Cate Blanchett. She’s an amazing actress.

Emily is a nice actress, so is Cate. I have also loved Kate Beckinsale's acting.

Hopefully you have watched the underworld movie series. I skip through the parts about vampirism and blood shed, because I don't like to watch violence. Kate is amazing in them.

I was just reading an interview with Harrison Ford about how the last Indiana Jones movie flopped and why...

His reply? Shit happens sometimes.

Cate Blanchett is a national Australian treasure (Paradise Road! Oscar and Lucinda! Theatre work in Sydney so many times...) but even she could not save Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Or Borderlands. Bordertown with Hugo Weaving was much better, imho.

Going back to comedy you remeber fondly can be a rude shock.

I tried watching The Young Ones again a few years ago. Bad mistake. Even Monty Python, esp the TV show, has aged - and been copied and ripped off, byt the memories remain.
