What are we watching now?

We bought some Xena DVD box sets from a local video store some time back. Now we finally started watching. So far, fun cheesy stuff!

Robert Tapert chose well.

I enjoyed Blink Twice, and given the subject matter appreciated that they didn’t go super gratuitous and extended with those scenes like many films do
Saw you post this and wanted to circle back.

I am fairly non-caring about being older and the sort of disconnect I have at times with newer music. I just ignore drill rap and move on :ROFLMAO: With movies; it's a little more challenging for me.

My wife and I have this conversation often where we (mainly me) try to define what it is we don't like about certain modern stories. It's almost always about stories with younger characters where they are influencers or where half the setup involves them holding a phone to their face screeching SOCIAL MEDIA in vocal fry while on their way to a rave and me going "good lord please just shut up".

Blink Twice I kinda want to see. Channing Tatum is funny in things. And the chick from Search Party who is in it is usually really good. But that fear of "god do I not want to sit through this" before even turning it on is palpable on this one. Am I wrong?

Hmm, no phones/social media stuff but the first portion of the film is definitely young/rich (and potentially annoying) people partying. Not sure if that answers your question or not

I know there are equivalent tropes for every generation and it was just easier to go with those because I may have fell into those traps myself a time or 50 :bag It's probably just as much the struggle of getting old :rofl

Juror #2

What a joke. I can't recall watching a movie that had this good of a story, yet turned out to be a total disappointment. Nevermind the unbelievability of certain plot elements (a juror admits his personal bias and no one gets rid of him, let alone it not being discovered during voir dire), just too much to swallow.

Could've really been great if the main plot was developed better.

yeah, same feelings.
But overall it was not that bad

I liked it. Mainly because of the fact that Eastwood directed it. While being 114 years old
I understand 'suspension-of-disbelief', but juror 2's sudden departure at the end, then they come back with a unanimous guilty verdict, when they previously had been 6-to-6, is more like, "Ok, we're nearly out of time, let's move on to the ending, and who cares how the others changed their votes" moment.

It's like that guy who does the "Movie Pitch Meeting" videos, and asks an important plot-hole question, and the answer is, "Merely an inconvenience."

Yeah; it more than a little suspension of disbelief-y :wat:ROFLMAO:

Yeah, I just need my movies to be mostly believable. When they go way off into fantasyland, I usually turn them off. But I had to see how this one ended.

An example of a great drama I really enjoyed was Fracture, with Anthony Hopkins. :chef

I've seen it but don't remember it? I'll pretty much watch any C+ and up thriller and most courtroom stuff is also one of my faves.

I think both versions of 12 Angry Men (story of a jury deliberation) were very well done.
And Robert Downey Jr. & Robert Duvall in The Judge- fantastic movie!
