Rob Chapman "joins" Atomic Amps ..... "major new" release coming very soon

I would definitely agree that plays a part for sure but there are some very non famous mind boggling players too and if they are a YouTuber and do gear demos…. I’d bet they do and would get the shill monicker.
YTr's are such a personal preference, too. Some people dig this guy; some dig that guy. Not really something that you can form a consensus on.

How so? There’s Kemper, Fractal, Line 6 and Neural for hardware. Then there are a million Chinese brands that probably ripped off code and stuck it in cheap shit modelers. Then there’s Headrush, using 15 year old shit.
You must be ignoring stuff you don't like, LOL. Boss, Headrush, St. Rock, IK Multimedia, Atomic is supposedly being resurrected as per this thread, Zoom might still exist for all I know; and like it or not those zillion Chinese brands fill a useful gap in the price range...

Scary part is those cheapo units actually do not suck that bad anymore, either... They're pretty good value and in some cases are starting to compete favorably (and are upping the asking price (ex compare Ampero II Stomp vs L6 HX Stomp; I would probably take the former if buying today)).

All of the big players all have a zillion amp models that include a lot of similar/common core amps and cannot really be told apart in blind tests (see @GuitarJon 's YT channel for reference, :p ). They all have massive FX libraries, etc...

I do not feel like anyone is hurting for choice, TBH; and it is getting to the point where the ability to differentiate is difficult. If everything sounds great, has the same models, has the same FX, has similar I/O, switching, IR technology, copied UI from Helix, etc, it all comes down to other factors which are pretty slim. It's becoming more of a commodity over time.

IMHO.

Yeah, cry me a river for these influencers and paid promotion "artists." They have it so bad.
Why are people are so mean to them?? They can't catch a break.

Sad Pauly D GIF by A Double Shot At Love With DJ Pauly D and Vinny

For fuck's sake.... go work in a fucking Kitchen and sweat your balls off for 8 to 1`2 hours and then go
grab your gear from rehearsal space, load it into a vehicle, drive to the gig with your pals, and then
do a show and haul your gear and ass back home to do it all again a different day.

Yeah, these poor folks on YT. I am so glad someone is sticking up for them and educating us all about
their plight and how rough they all have it on the daily. :facepalm

Eh, probably. Only a few are really relevant to me in terms of competing with real amps. The rest sound like shit to me.

I agree, everyone gravitates to who seems the most relatable. I have a guitar buddy that loves Papa Stache and I cannot stand his online personality, but I like Marty Schwartz better and he doesn't. Both are IMO pretty talented guys in what they do for tutorials, but one resonates better with me than the other. Ass for every seat metaphor, I guess.

Oh well, lets just all agree that everyone is a Wh*re and looking to make a buck even if it means sacrificing themselves or their dignity doing it! Capitalism at its best...

Just be thankful Vince hasn’t crossed over to the guitar world…

I played the original AmpliFire Box a lot and loved it. If you're after the Iridium form factor, this is IMHO a much better option.

The only reason i don't own one is that HX Stomp does waaaaay more than either, in a similar footprint.

I'd consider the HX Stomp but the Ampli-Firebox Mark II is smaller, lighter, and costs hundreds less. For my purposes, personal use not gigging, it's a better fit.

Yeah I guess other than the fame and talent level, I don’t see what Vai does as being any different. He plays and sells original music, uses social media to promote his gear, merch, and tours. Some people who are called “shills” do the exact same thing.

Bea does the exact same thing it’s just the level of money, fame, a more unique sounding style that’s different. Those factors being different, I don’t see making one a shill and one not.

Vai’s probably not the best example in this case; everything with his name on it was designed specifically for him. I think the AxeFX is the only thing he endorses right now that wasn’t made just for him. JEM, Legacy, Bad Horsie, Synergy, they weren’t existing items he put his name on, they exist because the companies said they’d build it for him the way he wanted it built. Petrucci’s in the same boat these days. They’re taking all their experience and having companies make gear specifically for them to do what they do best. It’s mutually beneficial because those guys get the tools they need and companies get to sell it to their audience.

I don’t pay attention to the YouTuber guys nearly enough to know if they put music out and play gigs or not, but I know that’s not what they’re known for. I think I asked this about Rabea before and someone said he played in Chapman’s band. Regardless, it comes off as if the endorsements exist for a reason to make videos. The mutual benefit is companies get advertisement and YouTubers can make content. Maybe I’m totally off base and these guys are really working hard on stuff together or Rob’s got some really great experience with modeling and has some input that’ll make a signature product that much better than a non-signature product, but the nature of their content is new thing, new thing, new thing, so you’re not seeing prolonged usage of whatever it is they’re endorsing. Or maybe that IS happening and I just don’t pay attention.

All that said, if I could make gear videos for my job and get to play a bunch of different gear all the time, get my own sig gear, I’d quit my job in a heartbeat. I don’t fault anyone for doing it whatsoever, I’m just under no belief the endorsements are any more than advertisements in a much more superficial way than an endorsement with someone like Vai or Petrucci is.

As said before, I would never purchase anything for practising purposes not allowing me to route any external audio sources to it's headphone output in one or the other way.

Understood.

That's not a consideration for me because playing along with external audio sources is not something I usually do when visiting friends over the weekend.

Really loved the original Amplifire Box, that thing had some great amp tones, especially in the the realm of hi-gh gain. I thoroughly enjoyed both that and the regular 6 switch Amplifire that I owned. I'd love to see Atomic make a comeback but I would be a bit surprised if Rob Chapman was able to help them right the ship from their current sinking status. I hope they put out a new, competitive product. I'd certainly be interested.
