Do ya like high gain amps and want to give ToneX a spin?

I’m so giddy I can burst right now. 18 hours to go!

I love the feeling of leaving the trade like “ha! I got the better of THAT exchange!” While they’re thinking the same thing lol

What are we searching for for those?

If we get some titles or hints/help on finding @2112’s shared captures can someone please post here?

After hearing his JMP79 captures in another video for a different product, I’m completely a fan of those in addition to his killer video’s.
Try this link (I don’t see his Plexi listed though):

His captures all seem to start with LT, so you might be able to find them by name as well.

Am in the fractal camp, never ventured into tonex , mostly because I don’t want an endless search for the right capture.
Curated “best of” captures by the manufacturer would be interesting to try out, please add me to the list when the next one drops.

@HomespunEffects I just left some notes on the other TONEX thread:

Playing with the Metal Gems pack has been fun. I started by going through the entire pack (filtered down to the captures that included the cabs) and just clicked through one by one and strumming and/or playing quick riffs and using the favorite feature to mark the preset to come back to. I found this a good way to pare down the 100 or so presets so that you don't get overwhelmed by all of the captures. There's a surprising amount of variety, and several really nice clean sounds.

The biggest surprise was that I liked the Diezel Herbert captures the most overall (I thought I would favor the SLO). Most of the Herbert captures have a nice high end rolloff that I like (though may be too dark for some uses - sounds good solo though). I've only had a few hours on it, so didn't mess with changing any of the settings - just using the presets straight up so far.

I recorded this quick idea the weekend before last, inspired by the new sounds in this pack. I was hoping to develop it a bit further (might post that up for this weeks challenge, but here's the rough draft (this is using a Clean and Dirty Herbert capture):

It has made me realize that a curated set of captures is where it’s at for this tech.

@DrewJD82 Are you still looking to make some captures of that Ceriatone you just got? I found a pre-owned Tonex locally for a decent deal and may pull the trigger on it.

Yep! Fortunately, I think I already have the gear to do it? I've got a load box, interface and the software, I honestly haven't looked far enough into it to see exactly what I need. I may be hitting you up about that attenuator sooner than I thought, too!

Agreed. I think I needed to see/hear a whole pack to establish a baseline for it due to not using captures at any point previously. My big hangup previously was not having the tonestack work the same as it would in the actual amps, but in the context of how I'm using these it's actually preferable to NOT do that because if I'm recording with it, I don't want to turn up the Treble and get more dirt in the amp, I just want it to sit in the mix.

Yeah, man. Using the do-at-home captures doesn't seem to do it for me. The studio captures (I've only tried Altered Amp Works so far) have worked in every situation, while the homebrew captures seem to work well into a poweramp and cab but not so great into an "FRFR".
