Rob Chapman "joins" Atomic Amps ..... "major new" release coming very soon

I honestly have not seen much of Rob shilling ,has he aired some dirty laundry and said some things on the internet he shouldn’t sure
Who the hell hasn’t really

But for shilling there are far worse BEA comes to mind but even he has calmed done

I honestly don’t have a big problem with it there are many influencers on the net that’s what they do
If Bea gets a cheque to promote a new piece of year so be it
this honestly is nothing new before the internet there was guitar clinics
Same thing a famous artist or endorser would travel to guitar shops peddling their companies

Shilling is just so much more under the microscope because of social media ,

But it’s easy to ignore , unless it NDSP which is endless hype when they have a new product

Also I am more interested in the products I don’t have to like Rob he is not delivering it and coming for dinner
Bea shills more than Chappers? Wow… so weird how people see thngs differently.

On the “shill” thing I honestly think that term is way over played and more often seems to be a knock on person because someone doesn’t like their personality or music and or smells like a bit of jealousy.

I just don’t get the people slagging on other decent players incessantly when all they are doing is trying to make a living, at least in part, demoing gear on YouTube. They have to supplement their income since YouTube ads may so little. To your point… is Vai a shill for demoing his he’s preamp for Synergy, the Jem, a pedal, or selling his shirts, or promoting his tour? WTF? Are Deftones shilling selling T-shirt’s and merch at their shows or on their website? Every musician that gets paid for something music related must be a shill then.

Bea is. great player I dig him but he is far more present in my feeds that Rob has been , so if Rob is shilling he is pretty bad at it

VAI is not a shill , he uses his products the pedals guitars , synergy , Carvin I would never call him a shill

lynch on the other hand has a signature Randall on stage and is plugged into the Freidman BE that hidden behind , that’s kind of shady

I actually agree with this. "Shilling" isn't what Rabea does, because he's making clear that it's a sponsored video in some way. He's not pretending to be an unbiased customer experiencing a product he bought.

Difference is Lynch and Vai and the like are established guitar gods. Whether you like their music or not. They get a pass.

Are we really getting to the point in the music industry where you can be better renowned as a YouTube personality vs a musician?

No, we're not getting there, we *are* there already.
Did you ever know a famous italian bass player going by the name of Davie504? Very likely you didn't. Guy has 13.1 million (!) followers. For what IMO is the most same-ish, old-growing content and especially presentation style ever.
Not all that much different with Rick Beato. Or Paul Davids. Or Rhett Shull. Or even Adam Neely. All of them at least sort of decent players (an in case of Neely, even most excellent), yet their main income and popularity is generated by YT. And there's *countless* more.
Some of these guys would've possibly been able to make a decent living in the pre-YT/internet era, most of them certainly wouldn't. They would be teaching, playing Top 40 or have a non music related daily job.

Fwiw, I'm not dissing any of those guys, I don't think many people would resist such opportunies in case they were real. But I'm kinda dissing the world in which such "jobs" even exist. If anything, "influencing" itself for me is one of the most hate-worthy subjects ever. The epitome of turbo capitalism and the perversions coming along with it. One of the results being that you're really having a tough time to get a decently objective opinion on whatever it might be. Even the least suspicious subjects will very likely at one point in time present you a list of affiliate links. The first step into "shill-ism". And hey, if I was in such a position, I'd likely just do it the same. I still hate the entire thing, though.

Rabea is a monster player. I used to enjoy watching his review videos just to hear him noodling around, and coming up with great parts on the spot.

Having said that...

...yeah.

I recall reading an interview recently of some new pop star (maybe Olivia Rodrigo?), where they mentioned how labels now make promoting endlessly on Instagram, Tiktok, and the likes a contract item.

Sure. And it's not even exactly just promoting, you will usually find their entire catalog there (without any limitations). Simply because for most folks, YT subscriptions, clicks and ad revenue are paying better than whatever streaming services.

I RMA'd both my gen I neo wedge amps back in May and given an approximate repair window of four weeks.

It's now the middle of September and I have been ghosted by Tom & the Atomic "support" team.

:poop:
Tom from Atomic Amps reached out to me to apologize for the breakdown in communication and said he would make sure I was "taken care of right away".

Thank you, Tom! :beer

Yeah I guess other than the fame and talent level, I don’t see what Vai does as being any different. He plays and sells original music, uses social media to promote his gear, merch, and tours. Some people who are called “shills” do the exact same thing.

Bea does the exact same thing it’s just the level of money, fame, a more unique sounding style that’s different. Those factors being different, I don’t see making one a shill and one not.

They would power on, but no sound output.
When you say "power on," did you observe the bootup sequence in which, after powerup, all three red LEDs will light briefly, then go out? The light in the power switch will stay lit even if the power supply is completely shut down, unless the fuse blows.

For Marshall and Fender sounds, tone has never been an issue with Amplifire. I had the AA3 a couple of times, and sound quality was the least of my problems.

Glad to hear. I'm thinking about getting an Ampli-Firebox Mark II.

Customer support aside, does anyone have thoughts about this?

I want something small and light for practice when traveling.

I never paid attention to the bootup sequence. That's good information for the future. Thank you.

Tom sent me a status update about an hour ago. The amps both had blown power supplies. Probably the result of a surge.

They have already been repaired and are ready to ship.

Moreso their mind boggling skill. Not fame.
I would definitely agree that plays a part for sure but there are some very non famous mind boggling players too and if they are a YouTuber and do gear demos…. I’d bet they do and would get the shill monicker.
