NMD: NDSP Quad Cortex

Let's all agree that blue is best, regardless the gear.

It sure is!

Cant See Cheech Marin GIF

I played the QC + Matrix setup last night and had a great time. Sounds better than the ISP and is a great way to have fun with captures and models at home. If all goes as planned, I will also try it with the band this week for fun. Way late to the party on this one, but I definitely see what everyone has loved about the GT1000FX. It sounds and feels fantastic with a modeler and has tons of power.

I do feel like I'm living on the edge with this setup though, what with everything you read about QC and Matrix problems. Oh well, I guess we'll see.

There is actually a 2U GT1000FX near me as well, I may grab that so that if there is an issue, I've got another one. I could leave the 2U at home and put the 1U in a small rack to bring around.

I bought a used gt1000fx over 4 years ago and had zero issues with it, or with the used gt800fx I had before that. In my limited experience they've been very reliable.

Get the gold one when a demo pops up on SW ,😎 fyi id just wait for a demo anyways, financing, warranty, etc
I like the gold , I wish they would just make black and option in 2024
I am going to wait and see if they have a dual cortex or capture box at NAMM , but I can see being more interested in them in the future for sure

Yeah for sure. The gold is a little gaudy to some but I think it's sleek 😀

Just found out I'm getting a nice bonus from work and found a good deal on a used one locally. So should probably pick up this week!
If you don't mind me asking, what's a good deal?

I just say this because we know these units arent exactly the most reliable. I've seen SW demos for $1420

$1529 here

Just a word about the ease and speed of working directly on the QC: it's fantastic.

Last night I was getting some presets ready for the band, and the ease with which I was jumping from preset to preset, editing/adding blocks, copying and pasting them, changing I/O, etc, all with taps on a touchscreen, was honestly a real pleasure. This process would've been much slower and more annoying on other modelers I've owned, can't deny it.

Quick question: I might try and get a capture of my Electra Dyne with my 4x12 at band settings tonight, before practice.

I'd be using the Slave Out/DI on the Dyne, so the cab would still be connected and producing sound, which means the QC capture tones would be coming out of the speakers at pretty high volume.

Should I be concerned about damaging the speakers with the bizzaro QC tones sweeping through them?

I did find this thread on the NDSP forum where alec.lee says the QC capture process tones are comparable to playing a guitar with active pickups through the cab at the same volume, so it should be fine...

Can any TGF QC peeps chime in on this? @mbenigni @Mongillo19 @Achilles

Thanks!

It shouldn't! It's made to capture amps and some do the miced cab route.

And I hope you share these said captures 😀 I'm going to try and capture my fuzz factory and see what happens
