The WI state supreme court just ruled that even the smell of weed, even though it could could from things that are not weed, constitutes probable cause for search.
I don't know where you've been, but the US Supreme Court ruled on that in several cases over the last few decades and said pretty much the same thing. Some states that have legalized or decriminalized cannabis have passed laws along with the legalization, or subsequently, which specifically say that the odor of cannabis does not constitute probable cause for a search. If weed is still illegal in Wisconsin, then there you go. And since a car is a mobile conveyance, and thus covered by the Carroll Doctrine, a warrant isn't necessary since there is PC.

Same. I'm still digging York's KW 412, MRSH 412 and BMAN 410 (etc.).

I can wait for the Dyna Cabs. What I've got sounds pretty good right now. But of course, we always can't help but wonder what... say, another 2% "more" might sound like 🙂

I'm excited as much for the new carefully transcribed Speaker Impedance Curves as I am for the perfectly matched cabs themselves. And then of course, there is the improved utility of the new UI.
I don't think the dyna cabs improve the sound as much as making it a hell of a lot more convenient to make new presets. I see it as a usability feature, and a very welcome one.

I'm not a lawyer, I just follow the news.

I'm not a lawyer either, and I don't follow the news since they invariably try to gin up controversy reporting on non-stories like that.

So you casually mention the Caroll Doctrine, use the term "mobile conveyance," you're familiar with many federal Supreme Court rulings on this issue, but you don't work in the legal profession, you don't follow the news, and you refer to this as a "non-story," and you ask where I've been because I didn't know this. So I guess you're just like trying to talk down to people online? Do you do that in person too, or just when you can do it hiding behind a screen of some sort?

My take on the Dyna Cabs after several weeks is that they have extended low end and less midrange buildup compared to a lot of the legacy IR's. Requires more work to cut the low end rumble but I like it a fair amount.

I think one interesting thing about it is the huge difference tiny movements make. I do wish in Axe-Edit that we could zoom in further on the graphic for a single speaker, to move the mic more precisely. In the context of too much low end, I think just being able to move easier in a radiating pattern from the center make it easier to keep the mid and high end where you like it but just reduce enough lows to be able to avoid having to use the low cut parameter for that purpose.

I do it in person, too. Don't be so sensitive.

What do you mean by "buildup" in this context? 🤔

In comparison, the legacy cabs sound like they have a push in the midrange EQ, kind of like a wah pedal fixed into one position, but not as narrowly focused or exaggerated. And not always in the same spot either. That could mean the Dyna Cabs are a little more scooped too, but likely not the case.

Generally I hear the Fractal to be a little more scooped in the mids and with extended highs/lows compared to other modelers. Not a bad or good thing. Not necessarily more or less accurate to sources. Just what I hear.

There definitely seems to be areas where there's more changes in a small area at one number compared to another. I wonder if that's related to what's likely the IR's that were shot and are being blended behind the scenes.

From what I've played around, I tend to prefer using low cuts with 24 db/octave when using ribbon mics (which in this case tends to add a TON of low end).

I don't have an R121 so can't play around myself, but I'm curious if there's that much low end buildup or not, because the Helix cab block doesn't necessarily operate the same way. Not sure which is more realistic or not, or maybe just different rooms/mics/etc.
