Fractal Audio Firmware Update Thread

Thoughts, re the discussion on captures: The primary value of captures to me, personally, is to capture MY H/W at MY settings and then I can treat that thing as a block in the signal chain of my small portable digital device and do a bunch of stuff with it. I only have to shoot about 2-4 caps per device. I really do not struggle with wanting like a 100 settings on one amp or something.
This is why the Kemper was born and the reason why it's popular in the studio. It's a way to take a snapshot of a sound and call it back even if you don't have the gear all setup anymore. IMHO it's a poor fit for people that don't have the amps they want to model as the captures are so dependent on settings and environment, it's hard to find someone that has exactly the same touch and taste as you do so you're constantly dealing with compromises that are unnecessary with a pure modeler.

Yes, but those taxes pays for one of the best educational system in the world (used to be N°1 a few years ago), health services and many other public services that are considered normal in European countries

Well, one would think with all that great education a Finnish local could at least calculate their local tax rate; no? LMAO 🤣

I’ll take my low taxes and crappy American parochial schooling. 👍❤️🙏

Hmmnn … the Internet seems to disagree with you saying that the average Finnish income tax rate is 56.95%

I would describe myself as an old school left'y ... so to me, the issue re: taxation levels is not the rate or amounts of taxes per se' but rather ..... (a) is the system as a whole regressive or progressive ..... (b) what does the govt do or not do with that revenue for the benefit of its citizens and society ..... (c) does it do those things well and efficiently ..... and ultimately ..... (d) do the citizens support or reject how and what is being done or not done ..... just how I see it.

Man ... this has got to be one of the biggest diversions from the OP I've seen in a long time ! :)

My mistake is not knowing the English terminology. You are right that the rate is higher as my numbers didn't include pensions and some other stuff. These are deducted pretty automatically so you don't have to really even consider anything but the general income tax percent.

I'm fine with higher taxes. I don't always agree with what those taxes are spent on, but do believe that the system is overall better, with more security networks for people so next to no homeless etc. It's very far from perfect.

But anyway, back to Fractal. It's been silent for a bit so I wonder if we will see something bigger in a few weeks. The only thing I know should be coming is bass Dyna-Cabs. I'd honestly love for them to also do some of the quality of life requests because there's a lot of them from tiny ones to bigger ones.

This statement hides what (maybe erroneously, idk) I've always considered a big and very popular misconception about taxation.
Since it's the central banks which originally create money, and this money can only be acquired (via bonds sale) by governments which then injects it in the real economy via public investments and wages, taxes are just a way for the government to take some of that money back, mainly to stabilize economic parameters of the country and to redistribute them to avoid too much disparity between the richest and the poorest (most countries nowadays have miserably failed in this regard though). So saying that we need to "pay" for those benefits seems a bit misleading to me.

I broadly agree with you. I would just add that the Govt only has 2 options. Taxation and money printing, or if no taxation, only printing more money. Printing money, and releasing it in a controlled way, combined with Taxation, *can* work when done sensibly and in a well regulated way.

No Taxation and just printing more money can only "work" (i) if the govt is so small as to be irrelevant / non-existent and then it quite literally becomes the "rules of the jungle for everyone" overnight .... and/or (2) you are willing to let the society and economy death-spiral into hyper-currency-devaluation which inextricably leads to impossible to stop hyper inflation ... either way, its a never ending nightmare clusterf%ck.

Yep it is all govt made and released money ... but that's just the seed / first step ... once the economic activity "multiplier" kicks in, the money in the society / economy grows exponentially of its own accord.

Back to the Op.

The next Fractal modeling engine update will be named "Taxiverse" 😊🤘

I have a Mrak I FM3.... and had it nearly 4 years now. That's nuts! Anywho, there has always been
some hand-ringing about when it would become obsolete and no longer able to take any updates.

Ultra-Res IRs. Anyone remember those? Cygnus Modeling. Neither were going to make it to the FM3,
and yet here we are with all that and then some. Holy fudgesticks, we even received Dyna Cabs (albeit
lower sample rate?) for the FM3. :banana

Just strikes me to how much they have been able to shoe-horn into what was always assumed to be
very limited architecture. Pound for pound, and dollar for dollar the little beast is hard to beat. :beer
