What are we watching now?

This moment I'm watching a Norwegian movie called "Troll" on Netflix. I thought it was going to be about the internet, maybe even TGP, but so far it looks like it's about some big rocky dude who lives in the mountains.

Every Friday I go over the my dad's house and bring a pizza. We've been watching The Last Kingdom also on Netflix for the last couple months. You may be wondering why he'd waste a Friday night hanging with me, but he's 83 and a widower and digs pizza.
Nice! Last Kingdom is awesome as well \m/

What a great son! If I live to be that old I hope my son comes over for Pizza on Fridays. : :chef

Just finished “Dead to Me” with the wife. One of her few shows that I will sit through. Humor is pretty spot on.

Need to finally get around to watching Season 4 of “Westworld”.

Same, with Dead to Me. It was funnier/better than I expected. Really sad what Christina Applegate is suffering through right now with her M.S., but I thought it was brave of her to go forward with the show even though she’s 40+ lbs heavier and looks so different.

I kind of lost interest in Westworld after Season 2 (and the wife didn’t care for it). Maybe I need to revisit it. Was Season 3 and 4 as good as Season 1?

I did NOT like Westworld S3, but hearing good things about S4. Maybe someone can chime in.

Yeah, pretty sad on Christina Applegate but she did a helluva job on this. Really awesome F-bombs dropped (like “Fucking d*ck Fuck”). It was also cool seeing Peg and Kelly Bundy in the same show. Best wishes for her.

I feel so pedestrian—my top 5 shows of 2022 reflect that of pretty much every Best of 2022 article:

5. Reservation Dogs
4. The Bear
3. Better Call Saul
2. Severance
1. Andor (George Lucas isn't worthy of it)

Reservation Dogs S1 was GREAT. I couldn't quite get into S2 as easily? Might be because I was watching one. Episode. At. A. Time. Ugh.

The Bear was killer but certainly anxiety inducing

I haven’t seen either of those! (I’ve seen the other 3).

Guess I have two new ones to add to our list!

If you ever worked in the food industry; the Bear might invoke ptsd. It's a rough watch! I want to watch Severance but don't have an Apple TV subscription.

Watched Let us Prey last night on AMC+ cos I have a bit of a thing for Pollyanna Mcintosh. Was better than ok I think. Slow moving but when it did move it was pretty jarring stuff.
I liked this one quite a bit. She was a little more straightforward here vs. weirdo on Walking Dead or feral on the Woman.

Watched Emily the Criminal on Netflix. Aubrey Piazza(?) plays a down on her luck felon by way of singular bad decision who goes deep because she is left with no other choice. I like Piazza but she always plays borderline nutso so good that she doesn't ever seem to trend towards "regular" as much. It was actually one of the better NF flicks I have watched for quite some good. Good stuff.

I will have to check it out!

I need to quote this again, because your post inspired me to take some action today. I took Pizza and went out
to spend the afternoon with my 80 year old stepfather. No movies. But we did sit around the table and gnosh
on the Italian pies and watch the birds outside. Also found time to fix a hosed shower fixture, turn up the hot
water heater a few degrees, and visit. It was nice. He's not able to leave the house other than Doctor's appts. so
I am going to do my best to make this a weekly ritual.

Hope others are also inspired by your good example. :beer :beer

That's awesome. I'm sure he'll appreciate it. My dad's getting to be the same, can go out less and less, and only a very few of his contemporaries are still around. Now I just need to figure out how to convince my kids to do the same should I have so long a life.

We binged The Watchers on Netflix yesterday. You can pick apart certain aspects of the show, but generally speaking I think it was awesome.

If you dig the show it’s also worth a read of the New Yorker article that the show was based on. A family did have this happen to them, and the real story (without the creative liberties taken in the show) is interesting too.

We need to give it a go. I have read a lot of conflicting reports on this show, for whatever reason. Probably because Ryan Murphy.

Been watching Tulsa King week by week. Great mix of the Yellowstone writing style with a better sense of humor and the gangster flair from the Sopranos mindset. Great show.

I thought it was really good. There are some mild pacing issues and some of the elements of the show work better than others, but they nail a tone and the actors are strong. (Seeing Naomi Watts age is depressing though, time waits for no one lol) Make sure to treat the New Yorker article as the 8th episode. It’s a great read after watching the show.

This is light years beyond Cabinet of Curiosities, which I still havent gathered the strength to start the third episode. lol
