What are we watching now?

Road House
I saw that it was on last night… Almost watched it.

Is the mind-blown emoji because you're surprised to catch me bad-mouthing AHS? :D It's actually been going downhill for a while. A lot of my favorite actors are conspicuously missing by now. And this whole, "how many different ways can we be 'important' while essentially rewriting Halloween/ Friday the 13th?" play is just lame.

Speaking of trying too hard to be important: I got a little bit impatient with the way the Dahmer series started to meander toward the end as well. Important subjects, to be sure, but handled poorly and probably in the wrong context/ medium.
I was tempted to just delete this post, but instead: a partial retraction? I actually quite enjoyed the last two episodes of AHS NYC. Dark as hell, but heartfelt and effective - maybe even legitimately "important"? Unfortunately the 8 episodes that precede these still feel mostly random and superfluous - even cheap by comparison - so I'm not completely won over. The "Halloween/ Friday the 13th" similarities do finally evaporate in favor of the metaphor you saw coming all along. Which is better, but again, it makes so much of the meandering plotlines that precede the conclusion feel arbitrary.

tl;dr - Could have been a 3 or 4 episode mini-series named anything except AHS and been great. Was instead a weak season of AHS (with an ending so good that I felt guilty and had to post this LOL.)

The last few single story horror series for me were a LOOOOOOOOONG haul. It was probably a Mike Flanagan thing? Who is super slow and long winded anyway. I am looking forward to seeing what next season brings if they do revisit.
Most of them will try your patience, I agree. I did enjoy Midnight Mass a few months back. If nothing else I really liked the setting - oddly comforting and perfect for horror at the same time. :)

I don't know who Mike Flanagan is. :sofa

EDIT: Just Googled him. Midnight Mass LOL.

Midnight Mass was my favorite of his series. Hush was a great little stalker/slasher. I think Doctor Sleep was great too. He does get a little long winded though.

I like watching the shows that reveal wrongful convictions. I'm into The Innocence Files atm, but I've also watched the show about Steven Avery and The Staircase, and I gotta say I hope there's a special place in hell for these people who have anything to do with putting, or worse, keeping, an innocent person locked up when they have the evidence to the contrary. The common thread I see is people are unwilling to do the right thing and admit they were wrong, and in some cases it seems like plain stupidity as well.

We all make mistakes, but when yours puts, or keeps, a person incarcerated, you have to do what is right, no matter the cost. Most of the motivation, as I see it, is purely selfish. It's truly disgusting how people can act towards their fellow man!

As you were...

Just finished The Watcher. Do not recommend. Pretty cheesy and only finished because I wanted to know what happened. But then the resolution was even worse. Dumb. IMO.

Thought about this one but semi-assumed it was going to suck :bag Sounds like I assumed correctly haha

Started newest season of The Sinner. 2 episodes in and it's going good. Bill Pullman is SO awkward. He does a great job.

Yeah. Skip it - there are plenty of better shows to watch out there.

And I enjoyed all the Sinners. Bill Pullman kind of bugged my wife in these - she said it seems like he’s a bad actor. But I think he’s just really good at playing an F’d up character lol.

It makes me worry about his well being in real life  :rofl I'd say that makes him good!

Is this your first run on Banshee? It's RIDICULOUS (and that last season will test your limits on suspension of disbelief) but it's one of my favorite shows.

I’ve consistently thought Banshee was an animated show due to the graphic whenever it’s popped up. I’m oddly picky with animated stuff, now that I know it’s not I’m going to check this out.

Ha - I get that. I’m not huge into animated shows either. Fortunately this one ain’t that, and I think you will love it.

Halfway through “Pepsi, Where is My Jet” on Netflix. Hilariously awesome. Hoping to finish today.

Just started 1899 on Netflix. Same creators as Dark.

I wanted to like this. But I tried watching the first episode and it took me like 3 separate sessions just to make it through it. Way too slow for me to watch at night at least. Maybe it's better when you are wide awake?

I totally agree, but it gets better. I’m on Ep 5 and it is just now shining some light. Heard the last 3 episodes make everything clear

This reminded me to cancel Hulu. Thanks!
Get that Black Friday $1.99 per month special with the 397th yet to be abandoned email account going!
"Everything Everywhere All at Once" was all that I'd hoped that movie would be.

If you like semi-abstract, slightly silly (bonkers, actually) mind-exploding sort of stuff, then you might like it. Some people might find it overwhelming, though. I have a soft spot for grumpy reluctant heroes too.
FANTASTIC film. Really beyond description at how whacko it is while being amazing all ar the same time. Loved it.
