What are we watching now?

The only DC that will ever not fail is Batman. When done OUTSIDE of the rest of their "universe". Even if there are some bright Superman spots here and there. Super hero movies need to die anyway. They have generally gone that way but somehow won't give up so we can get back to normal storytelling that doesn't rely on being some huge franchise.

This.

Finished What We Do In The Shadows. This final season was a huge mess. It's like a collection of skits that are varying degrees of funny, and plot lines that go nowhere.

It's a shame because the first 4 seasons or so had a lot of great stuff. I guess the series just went on too long that its makers just didn't know what to do with it.

Is this a joke? I'm not exactly a Superman fan, but this Superboy trailer makes me want to tell him to put dad's costume back in the closet and to stop fucking around with his things.
I'm expecting James Gunn to be able to make something out of this that is at least decent, and different.

Just hunkering down with a Grilled Ham and Cheese to
check out how much Al Di Meola influenced Zakk. :rawk

(Edit: What a great way to spend an hour. Legend is legendary!) :chef

Severance is amazing.

Some of the best cinematography I've ever seen. Every shot is :chef .

Wonderful acting and superb script.

And it's batshit crazy to boot :rofl
We started this a ways back. I liked the first episode or two but it was a little too 'aloof' to pull us in? That plus my extreme LOATHING of Apple TV ("Hey what's included on this "subscription" that we don't have to pay additional money to watch? Oh nothing? Cool cool cool" :wat:wat:wat) made it very easy to not circle back to. I realize there are other ways and venues to watch it in but I have this weird thing where I want to watch it at the source. Might have to take another look down the road

We've been watching old people shows. The new Matlock and Elsbeth :wat:roflThey're both actually pretty darn good. If you're old :bag

I have that exact same feeling about the Apple TV pricing model. Super annoying!

I just bought some Charlie Brown holiday specials on Blu Ray, because FUCK THE APPLE TV! If Sheiky baby was still alive, I'd have him put them in the camel clutch, break their back, and make those jabronis humble. I'm not sure what their pricing model is, but regardless, I am not paying for that shit. Apple TV and their Apple Music can eat a family get together sized bag full of rotten milk covered dicks.

We just finished Better Call Saul. To me much of it was like a great film, and we kept talking about how much Vince Gilligan was shooting in Michael Mann style, and using similar music too. My wife and I both feel like Mann stopped having heart and soul in his work at a certain point, but Gilligan really took the torch from him. It was incredible.

A lot of the ways it went shocked me, and I thought it was interesting how I couldn't see where stuff ended up. I was also surprised by the quality of the acting for so many of the actors.

I did like this more than Breaking Bad, because the characters were just better overall, more finely drawn, more character and personality. They felt more real. Breaking Bad was great, but many of the women's characters were less dimensional than the men, and it was like half the characters' potential was wasted. I felt like that was not the case in Better Call Saul. Here you had a greater sense of everyone in the show, and there was just more characterization in a great way. It meant that when something happened, it had greater impact.

Very cool, and I'm glad I saw it.

Kyle Kinane is fucking hilarious. We just discovered this guy and listened to a couple of his albums while working. This is the first special of his that we've watched. I just think he's clever as hell, and he had me from beginning to end. Now I can't wait to see his other specials, which seem to be on Paramount+.

Best montage ever made (when Jimmy acts like a total ass to try to get fired). The interspersing of the inflatable dude "dancing" just takes it over the top:
