UAFX Knuckles ‘92 Rev F Dual Rec - leak?

hmmmm. There's something weird in the distortion that I noticed in the Anti too. Can't see Fluff's settings but its not sounding amazing here to me. Need real world examples to know for sure

His tones weren’t my favorite choices generally, but the interesting thing to me was when he started flipping the bold/spongy and tube/ss rectifier switches. The changes in response sounded exactly like I remember on the real amp, so it has promise of maybe getting it right.

The recto tonestack can change the sound pretty dramatically, it’s not hard to get a tone that lots of people won’t dig. If they got it right, there’s probably gonna be a lot of clips that are less than savory. Fluff went for a different thing than I expected here, but there were moments where it really sounded right to me like what I mentioned above and when he went to red channel modern.

yes, master adjustment completely fucks whatever you dialed in.
good news, master slider has no visual numerical readout, or any way to input a specific value. if you move it, you can never get back to it.
there isn't room for a finger tip to fit between a thrown toggle and the knob above and below it, if channel is on red, a fingertip on treble knob pushes it back to orange. unless you plan ahead. extra 2mm of real estate is being taken up by the fucking label.
master is just like on helix, and the real thing, distortion starts at about 30%, below 30% where all the records were made, has no volume compensation, unlike helix native you can't stack 3 EQs to makeup the 36dB of gain you need to use it.
good news, they kept the power amp switching options active for "preamp+tone EQ" mode, so you can turn off the blocking distortion garbage that is 80% of the master slider, and still have tube/silicon, bold/spongy, and 6L6/EL34, blatant realistic expected effect on preamp behavior.
the gain knob is off until 0830 for whatever reason.
"Tone EQ + Power amp" mode interestingly keeps the tone knobs active, idk if it's the exact same as the amp channel tonestacks, but it's great, orange normal you get presence and treble knob, in orange modern you lose the presence knob. But in Red normal you still have presence and treble both. ??. My $150 DS-1w sounds and feels almost indistinguishable from the knuckles preamp distortion into "Tone EQ + Power Amp" mode, and it's pissing me off as to WHY tf, and HOW tf.
in green power amp mode only, the gain knob does something ????, increasing it dips the signal ultimately. if you're a fan of green pushed mode, dirt pedal of choice into green power amp mode is the ticket.
in power amp mode you keep all the power/rectification/tube options switching and a 3 and/or 4 band pre-PA EQ. to me that's backline replacement functionality. the power amp is legit. The first unsuspecting john to run this as a stereo power amp in 4CM with a HX stomp is going to die laughing

Looking forward to hearing it! Lack of values for MV is annoyingly as much of an oversight as not having it for the input levels or output levels in the plugin. Seems like one of those things that very few people will complain about even though there is no good reason to have it like that.

Be cool if you can compare side by side with Fractal (and whatever else you have). I think Tonocracy has a Rev F model? Wavemind plugin?

Very cool UA have done the whole amp and all modes and switches behaving basically like the real thing. So much prefer that approach than just a channel here and there with some of the modes available.

I have not seen all the videos out there, but from the 6+ or so I have watched/heard, something just sounds a little off to me. Could be that some of these are post processing the shit out of them, but IDK...

IMO, nothing I have heard out of this pedal so far is any better to me than the HX Dual Rec Presets and IR's I got from @MirrorProfiles for my Stomp for around $10. And I know these YT guys can dial it in better and faster than I can so for now, I'll pass.

Maybe they will give an update that will allow you to upload your own IR's down the road, and that could make a difference or be a

I do think @GuitarJon did the best job and had the best tones

Watching all these vids had me jonesing for some direct Recto tones so have been revisiting the HX Recto. Sounds a lot better than I remember, especially with a precision drive in front.

So many times I'll pull up amp sims I already have to get a fresh fix of some new piece of gear.

Middleton STL is top notch for that thing and I've been using NDSP Gojira a fair bit lately as well (SLO-X has already come and gone in my "rotation", love it). Knuckles hasn't impressed me a ton compared to Lion and 5150, but I'm keen to push and pull it when the plugin drops.

Not sure how I missed this one.

Whoever helped put this pedal together did their homework. Like, A+ NASA level execution in terms of the actual feature set. Having all 3 original channel modes selected, power tube switching, and rectification switching is god tier for any of us that owned or used the old rev f and g models.

Honestly I kind of miss this level of detail and consideration in the L6 models.

Yeah, sounds A LOT better in his demo.
Yes it does, but I always wonder how much processing some are doing to make them sounds so good.

I still stand by my post above that on many of these YT Shill videos, something sounds off. Not necessarily bad, just off. It could be my ears, but If it really sounded that good out of the box, every video I have seen would sound similar to this one. It may just be post pedal Eq settings, but some sound fantastic, some are not good IMO, and the majority are in the middle - not bad but not awesome either.
