Units from any company are going to have issues, there are no ways around that. It's about now the company solves and responds to those issues.
Add to the fact that the QC is more expensive than any L6 product, still isn't what it was marketed at when money was collected from people, has a shady history of interacting with other competition, is essentially radio silent on any sort of development pace, puts off a vibe of not knowing how their flagship model operates, etc etc there are many aspects to dislike NDSP/QC. Yes, the QC does not get much love here, but there is a reason behind it.
If the QCs sole issue was hardware malfunction, I still don't think it would get the hate you see online. Although they really need to get various services centers opened (like the promised pre launch) so you don't have to send it to Finland. They've done multiple things that can rub people the wrong way and it just has culminated. And add to the fact many of us here were banned from forums due to those who were affiliated with NDSP but refused to acknowledge it until after the fact. It's not a good recipe!
I’ve never said NDSP doesn’t have issues and often joined in on the fun. That can be true, as well as that criticism can go overboard here, in my opinion.
The question I asked was about getting the HX One working, along with an (unnecessary?) side comment about if it was an NDSP device, meant in good-natured fun, as all of this is, and asked in my own NMD thread.
One question: Why don't you folks build your pedalboard frameworks yourself? It's so easy to do with bog standard case plywood and allows for any levels of customisation. It's cheaper, too.
Thanks, @la szum! Yeah, it was reminding me that digital stuff can be awesome, but can also be a giant pain in the butt, especially MIDI. Although I guess that goes for analog, too. It can all suck at times, to be honest!
Today has been good for the midi stuff, it's been working all day and I've been having fun setting up presets and having those sweet HX delays back.
Still not updating, but I'm going to try a few other things (mentioned now in the big HX One thread here.)
But…. Why would one need this if they have an fm9 already? I mean why bother blowing away 1700? When you don’t have to? Same with people who feel they must get a tmp when they have an fm9.. why?
Well, in my case, we have a case builder here. I usually buy some case plywood and have him cut me some stripes. After that, all it takes is screwing them together (and maybe modifying them here or there).
Metal isn't necessarily more sturdy or lighter than wood. Good case plywood is pretty lightweight.
I understand the point about the cases, but then, I have mine custom built by the local case builder, kind of as a DIY kit they're pre-preparing. Takes an hour or so to assemble them. And fwiw, I'm the total opposite of a great handyman or anything. That stuff just doesn't require too much proficiency.
By using the Line 6 Updater and the flash files they're providing (and by telling the Updater explicitely that you want to perform an offline update). I wrote this little, err... "essay" on the L6 forum, should still be pretty much the same and very likely pretty much identical with the HX One:
After posting the same advice over and over and over throughout the last years (and for several times just during the last hours), I decided to post this here, so I can just link to it (it's also missing in any official Line 6 documentation, at least in a direct, straight ahead form). So, your up...

Even with my rather layman technical understanding, several things seem to point to issues with the L6 server during whatever online update procedures. And even if it's something totally different, going for a forced offline update brought their seemingly bricked units back to life for many people.
Note: Even if it's mentioned in the link above, I can't stress that enough; In case you're on Windows, really make sure there's no traces of the HX Librarian software running in the background. Those don't cooperare well with the Line 6 Updater, resulting in your unit not being recognized.
