New Gibson Falcon amps

Already showing "in stock" at CME:

Gibson new amp line marketing meeting......

"Ok team, I want ideas. What do today's players want in an amp?"

- no master volume!
- no tone stack, only a single tone knob!
- a really cute but ridiculously shitty amp handle!
- a retro Jensen speaker instead of a Celestion rocker!
- only 5 and 20 watt options!

:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

Although, with Mesa Boogie in their back pocket I guess it sorta makes sense.

It’s Gibson - of course they’re going to go with “look like a vintage Gibson amp, even in the ways it’s annoying”. See their subsidiary. Mesa Boogie, for all those other options.

Nothing you listed seems like a bad thing to me at all.

My Matchless had the same kind of handle and I didn’t have any problems with it.

I also spent many years gigging 15-20 watt amps, several with no tone stack and only a tone knob.

All these things are common in the world of sub-30 watt boutique amps.

Not every guitarist is looking for a high wattage “rock” amp

Jensen is a pretty poo-flavored speaker though, IMO.

I like Jensen speakers in general. I’ve never used the one in this amp though, so I don’t know.

Benson is a modern company making new amps with even less features than these that sell for over $3,000 and they can’t make them fast enough to keep up with all the demand for them.

Many many other modern boutique amp makers also make similar amps and are in very high demand…

But of course this is a forum so if Gibson does the exact same thing we all have to pile on them and complain about being stuck in the past

Not an amp of interest to me, but I think this is very cool and fully support this
