There... I said it.

While I'm all about loud, pretty colors and quilted tops etc.. gold does not belong on a guitar imho.

The ONLY caveat would be a Les Paul black beauty :chef

Problem is that with 99% of the gold plating we've probably all experienced it only looked really awesome when it was brand spanking new.
A few weeks of steady use and it already starts showing bad signs of wear.
I bought one of these new a long time ago and it WAS 100% drop dead gorgeous for a short while!

P.S. Violin bow bashing definitely expedites the process.

I agree.

Sometimes I think it looks good at shows but most times it makes me not want to buy a guitar. Not for me.

White Falcon would like a word.

I used to hate gold hardware, and still do for the most part. There’s definitely exceptions though. I also love the look of nicely aged gold hardware, where you can barely tell it was originally gold at first glance.

The only gold color I like on a guitar would be a brass nut, raw brass saddles, and evo frets. Don't care much for gold pickups, bridges or tuners.

Typical of low cost mass produced gold hardware. Looks like the bridge, stop bar screws, and pickguard screw/clamp all got plated in a bad batch while the stop bar is one tint of gold and the pickups are another.

See, this is where these sorts of sentiments come from. :rofl

At the chrome or price? :rofl

Ever seen one of them up real close? The couple I got a look at has some serious flaws with the chrome finish. Nothing you'd see unless you were looking but as a buyer I'd have been a bit ticked.
