I Am Listening To Every Queensryche Album In Chronological Order

For those of us in HS when they came out the EP -Mind crime was the best. Current band is trying to fit into the modern metal category does not float my boat at all. Evident by he absence of Degarmo riffs found on Mindcrime and the like
I liked a few songs from Mindcrime but they took a step back from Rage for Order in the originality department and I just couldn't get into the lighter stuff. I know it was a sign of the times but Rage just resonated with me a whole lot more than the next two albums. I kind of gave up on them and never listened to Promised Land until last year. It's really great though.

This! Came out in the early 80's i was a Jr in high school and a buddy turned me onto it. Blown away. This was the Era of killer singers. Every band had one or got a hard pass

This is an example of all the era's killer singers trading off:

That was awesome. I got the vinyl from way back in the day.

Promised Land and Rage For Order are my two favorite Ryche albums!

After that they’ve been a mess. The mid-90s grunge/alternative rock and shunning of anything 80s really did a number on them.

As a kid coming of age during the mid-90s grunge era I can kinda see why... That said, despite the sax I'm getting Tool vibes from this song.

When they weren't pushing that ideal and just being themselves; they would default to that regularly. I LOVE Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. But I don't love the last 20+ years of albums from either. I appreciate the effort and get why maintaining a discography at the level of their early stuff is an impossible task.
I like Rime of the Ancient Mariner as well, but what it did to the band going forward is fucking horrible, so I only like it to an extent.

I agree except for the first album with LaTorre. If you haven't tried that one, I would give it a shot. Also, the last one with DeGarmo, Hear In The Now Frontier, I thought was garbage.
I think the last two with DeGarmo (Promised, Hear) were both underwhelming and half baked. That said, the stuff after he left was 10x worst. I don't have much interested in Toddsryche.

Fair enough. I fucking love Promised Land though. It's like a different band than the one that made Rage for Order though, so I don't blame anyone for bailing. I actually like Promised Land more than Empire, which has a lot of songs that I can't stand, like Hand on Heart.

I think that the closer we are to something or someone the meaner we can be
when they let us down----and they will let us down. :hugitout

Our expectations of what someone should be, or who they should be, or how
they should act seem to make it always more about us than it ever is about them.

Probably why the most devout fans are often the absolute worst kind of people. :idk

Generally speaking. Not pointing any fingers here. :beer

That's an interesting thought; I think of it in terms of values. To me an artist may share my values for a time, then they don't. Simple as that. Most artists with staying power change over time. Some nonsensically argue that all change is progressive, when I see plenty who artistically regress.

People tend to suffer abuse and murder, disproportionately, at the hands of
those they are most intimate with. I think a similar thing happens with the most
devout and serious fans and the Artists they worship/hate. :idk

Love is a weapon and passion can be a poison.

Just riffing. :beer
