I Am Listening To Every Queensryche Album In Chronological Order

I just read about the lawsuits between Rockenfield and Jackson / Wilton. I'll tell you, when I saw them on the Empire / Rage for Order Suite tour in the aughts, the only person playing like he cared was Rockenfield. With him out of the band, my interest is out of the band too.

Hell, with just about every band I love, I only like three albums usually. For Queensryche, I like all the albums from the first EP up to Promised Land, so that's a great run in my eyes. And the first one with La Torre had great stuff too, in my opinion. So with the large amount of their work that I love, I can't begrudge all their work that made me puke, or the terrible decisions they made at different parts haha.

I thought I was going to have a bigger reaction to Scott being gone because his parts are really integral to that band, more than the majority of drummers are in their respective bands, for sure, but when The Verdict came out (Todd played drums on it) the most I thought of the drums were “Shit, Todd did a really fucking good job at making this a Ryche album” and then with the newest one that Casey played on, it’s a great album, maybe not a great Queensryche album and they‘re just about at the point where they sound more like a band heavily influenced by Ryche than they do Ryche.

One could say that’s just a natural evolution and the band would have gotten there regardless of who was in it…..their history may indicate otherwise but ultimately, I’ll still probably get each album as they’re released and I’ll always go see them live. I’m not quite as fired up about them as I was when Todd first joined and at this point I’d probably be more excited to hear about a reunion with all original memmbers more than I would be a new Toddryche album.

a new Toddryche album.

HA! Just made me think of Spinal Tap and Nigel Tufnel.

"Well, first we had Scottryche. Then we switched to Toddryche and then again to Caseyryche. We're hoping next for Buddyryche - cause Buddy's are really good drummers, right?"

My mind is in this phase where I want to find a great group of guys (or gals) and learn
an entire album together.

I may hit that dude up with the epic pipes I met this past summer and see if he is tired of
playing the mother fooking Goo Goo Dolls and really ready to man up and use his
pipes for what God intended.

Will give him more time to wallow and stew in his own self-chosen mediocrity. :hmm
The Goo Goo Dolls were actually decent before they became limp wristed soft pop rock for women.

Man, I love Queensrÿche. I really liked The Warning but it was a passive admiration. Great band and good songs. Then Rage for Order came out and I became a super fan. I am very willing to say that was the best album of the entire 1980s. They were so far ahead of everyone at that time.

I met them at a record signing a few hours before I saw them open up for Ozzy during the RfO tour. Michael Wilton and Chris Degarmo were the coolest guys ever. They wanted to know about me and actually took me aside and talked about amps and guitars. It seemed that Scott had no idea where he was. Geoff seemed terrified of people when they talked to him. He recoiled when i said “nice to meet you, Geoff”. Eddie was shy and quiet.

They all signed my cassette.

I’ll be seeing Tate soon, can’t remember the date but I’m anxious for it. Glad he’s putting effort into it again and also glad he’s finally retiring Mindcrime as that album cannot be milked any harder.

Meanwhile, Ryche is coming down to a casino nearby. Kind of bummed about that as they’ve always played one specific venue each time they’ve came and they’ve been selling it out. I’d rather see them move to the next level up rather than hitting the casino down here. I’ll probably skip this one as I think it’ll be another Origins gig and I’ve already seen them do the first 5 albums several times now. I think their current material could hold up on it’s own if they played it more live, but totally see why they don’t.

Geoff is going to be in our neck of the woods in September and I am a little interested to go see him. Mainly because the QR I saw didn't do any Mindcrime (iirc?) other than Eyes of a Stranger (maybe?) when we saw them with Priest.

I think it’s worth it, if not just to see a dude who was part of one of my favorite bands of all time and was a huge influence on me. Not sure if it’d be worth as much for ya. His band is pretty good these days, they at least put effort into playing the music properly. Toddryche still sounds more authentic even though it’s only 2/5’s Ryche at this point, but I suppose being bass/guitar that’s a fair amount of foundation right there.

Tickets are $27 a pop. That's insane compared to most everything happening now

Shit, that’s worth it just to say you saw a concert for under $50 in 2025!

Pantera just added another Florida date, West Palm in September. Cheap seats are $185, lawn seats are $55. Fortunately, I actually prefer the lawn at this joint so I’ll be seeing them for a third time!

Deicide and Exodus are playing like 6 hours from us in the Nashville trip. Might have to make it a 10 band vacation :bag:satan:rofl

If you condition the audience to reject the new material, they will. One of the only bands I can think of off the top of my head that doesn't is Maiden. Alice Cooper will throw in some oddballs and "haven't played this in 10+ years" stuff, but otherwise, most bands are just boring heritage acts on their way to the slaughterhouse.

I wish Maiden would write some good new material. Otherwise, please get to conditioning us  :ROFLMAO:

Maiden and Metallica have an issue with thinking they are "progressive." Most of their songs do not need to be longer than 5-6 minutes.
When they weren't pushing that ideal and just being themselves; they would default to that regularly. I LOVE Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. But I don't love the last 20+ years of albums from either. I appreciate the effort and get why maintaining a discography at the level of their early stuff is an impossible task.

Day One, and an easily digestible 4 song EP. :chef

I recall seeing the "Queen Of The Reich" video on MTV in High School. I was like "Who the fuck are these guys?!"
Turned out to have quite the career. Probably one of my all-time favourite bands. Quite the progression. This will
be fun! :banana

Oh, and I am only doing the Queensryche Albums. No Geoff Tate solo material for me. Sorry. Not sorry.

Feel free to chime in, jump the gun, leap ahead, toss poison darts, or just follow along. :beer

This! Came out in the early 80's i was a Jr in high school and a buddy turned me onto it. Blown away. This was the Era of killer singers. Every band had one or got a hard pass

This is an example of all the era's killer singers trading off:

OMFG! You look at Q-Ryche dates and they are all Casinos in the States.

No offense to the Native Americans who own them and get Grannies to burn
through their Social Security Checks the first of every month.

A local guitarist toured with Geoff for many years -Scott Moughton.

For those of us in HS when they came out the EP -Mind crime was the best. Current band is trying to fit into the modern metal category does not float my boat at all. Evident by he absence of Degarmo riffs found on Mindcrime and the like

Bring this back!! They peaked here
