Helix 3.8 when?

Only tried the Super Reverb and the 105Q so far, but I'm liking what I hear.

They nailed the wah! First time I really like a HX wah at 100% wet, and it behaves just like the 105Q does in my rig.

Awesome!!!!

The Super Reverb is stellar as well, both channels sound legit bold like you'd expect. Somehow it really "feels" like a big iron amp.

And, 100% true to old Fender form, after playing the Super Reverb for a while, my Helix' PSU cable started shooting sparks and smelling funny.
The authenticity is unbelievable! 😂😂😂

(Nah, the cable had been acting up for a while, very probably a dent/rupture causing a defective contact. I'll get replacement and chill.)

I just bought a helix LT :rofl bad timing? Am I crazy for buying one right now? I don’t know, I got a sweet deal on it though. Will I be disappointed if a new helix comes out in January? Maybe, but I don’t think it’s going to be any less than twice what I paid for the LT anyway. I’m late to helix, just got my first stomp a year ago after demoing native for the first time. But obviously someone is still buying them, it can’t just be me.

First impressions of 3.8 are - the super reverb sounds every bit as awesome as I hoped it would. My new favorite fender model. The bogner blue is the model I never knew I needed, sounds excellent, no drive blocks needed. And the 1x12 open cast evm12l cab with the sm7 is still the best cab for me. I even like it with the bogner. I feel relieved that I don’t have to try different cabs or IRs anymore because this one is perfect, with pretty much every amp I use in helix. I own 5 York audio ir packs that I stopped using in favor of the open cast. But the new super reverb cab sounds pretty close to it to me.

Don't worry, I'd say - as long as you're okay and know what to expect.

No touchscreen, no capturing/profiling, but some of the best toanzzz in the modeling world, that's for sure.
Also, routing/assignment flexibility and editing capabilities are pretty much endless.

If you're on a budget and don't care about "next gen" features, now might even be a really good time to buy a Helix. They seem to be on sale in lots of places, and the long list of past updates makes them very mature, fleshed-out devices.

Therefore, congrats - and enjoy the deep dive! ;)

Thats nice. Super Reverb. b
Can't get enough of the Super Reverb. I dropped in the Amp+Cab, pushed the drive a bit, added a touch of spring reverb and have been playing without tweaking anything since. Even the defaults on this one are great. Thanks Line 6 team!

Indeed!! I did bring the bass to 4.8. But maybe the default was fine as it. Did not even add reverb yet hah!

Just updated my Helices, and these new amps are amazing! Pulled up the Super Reverb with its cab and controls at 10', and immediately got a fat, punchy clean i got lost in for half an hour.

Really enjoying the Bogner Ecstasy as well. I'm getting some lush and musical crunch tones from the blue channel model, which i would've never expected - i always thought of the 101b as more of a high-gain amp.

It's hard to dial a bad tone on this model. Just remarkable.

I really like how it breaks up when you push the drive. Reminds me a lot of the Bassman, but it's still its own thing.

They updated the manuals for 3.80 - normally they don't update the manuals for anything less than a major version number increment.

What does this tell us? Absolutely nothing of course, but I speculate that perhaps there are no more *major* changes coming down the line for the current Helix platform.
Well they did have to do something with the year it took to release.

Top comments heard during the update

OMG L6 every update I get a Boot Failure error message
Looks like I will have to put a ticket in again

- Well looks like I am screwed can’t update with Windows 7 😡

Some folks seem to be heavily against the notion of adding more Fender amps, but I think that future inclusions of silverface models, i.e. a Twin or a Double Showman, would really round out the Fender saga in a way that could be pleasing for everyone. Well... for most, I suppose.

JMP-1 is still #1 on my list, while also maintaining high hopes for more effects to come.

I really want a blonde Bassman (6G6B) model so I can get my Brian Setzer on. I had hoped that Dripman would do the trick there, but alas, no.

My only gripe with the Super, is the absence of the bright switch and the persistent inclusion of the presence control.
Did you look at the right amp? The Super Reverb has a Bright.
