Fractal Talk

I'm a shit player, but a super-star tweaker :clint

Fractal gear....I bought Austinbuddy's live patches. After that, no tweaking. Kemper....also no tweaking. I don't know what the heck people are tweaking all the time....but then again, I'm just a dad rock player.

I did fall into a tweaking rabbit hole with the HX Stomp, which is why it's just sitting on the shelf these days.

Im using the AxeFX as my audio interface, how TF do I configure the IO for live monitoring plugin only use? Like bypassing all processing in the Axe and just passing the dry signal to Logic, which has a plugin loaded. (And then get that plugin processed signal back to the AxeFx which does no internal processing and passes the signal to the monitors connected to it)

I can record a DI and can reamp it in the plug, and but I’m just trying to figure out what the IO configuration should be if I treat the AxeFX as nothing but an audio interface with no processing in or out.

If you're just wanting that, wouldn't you just have a USB block shunted directly to an OUT1 block?

Inputs 5 and 6 are DI from the AxeFx III. If you select those in a blank preset that should work as well and not give you any processed sound.

Pretty sure when you want to send the audio from a daw, you have to create a new send in your daw, to 7 and 8 {l and r}, to get the signal to the USB block.

I have it working set like this. My Axe preset is just USB1 to Output1. I changed the digital input source to USB5/6. (But I left the Input 1 config at Analog, whereas when reamping I select Digital) Then in Logic i just set the track to mono & Input 5 and drop the plug on that bus.

The interesting thing is I have the routing in Logic set to Stereo Out, there are no individual tracks/buses specifically pointing back to a specific Axe IO. So I guess when Logic sends it back out via USB, it’s sending it back via USB 5/6 by default and hitting the USB In1 block that way.

I think 5 and 6 are used when you want to send the signal to the In1 block.....you use 7 and 8 when you want it to go to the USB block. And, I think there is no need to change the input source setting when using 7 and 8.

Lol. There was a time, back in my in-office days, where I used a Das with no key cap printing AND I was running colemak. Loved watching people try to use it when we'd pair.
Yeah that’s the one I was thinking of.

I forgot they actually made normal keyboards too.

That's great!

I was on the computer the other day and a friend saw me typing something and said "You can touch type!!!???"

When I was 15 my best friend and I took a typing class during summer school. We were the only two boys in the class. It was great!

A skill that's served me well over a lifetime.
