Still has vhs looking button arrayToo much still.
A simple power switch, volume knob and ‘dice’ button. Random settings applied each ‘roll of the dice’.

I'm about to nuke everything and start from scratch, basing everything around the only preset that I am using lately (Wrecker Liverpool + 1x12 Carol-Ann). And forget about that massive collection of presets and IRs that I have hoarded that costs much more than value of the Axe-FX III.

That is exactly what I've found now. A tone that I can enjoy playing over anything, from Gilmour to Blackmore, Satriani or AC/DC covers. So I do not have the need to search much for a match anymore. Just adapt the gain, EQ and FX. Goodbye to rabbit hole.I use one main tone, so I allow myself a small amount of time to tweak the few presets I use, (if that day it sounds like I want to improve it), save it to a new slot, then get to playing. Most days that's all I need. Some days it takes a little longer (not sure why; I have my main sound pretty much where I want it), but even that's getting to be rare.
I honestly don't get the infatuation with endless tweaking and gear churn. I mean, isn't the goal at the end of the day to be playing, whether it's for self-improvement in my case, or writing/recording (in which case I certainly understand the desire to find new tones, but it should still be a means to an end), or playing in a band? I dunno...

Yep. It's like the guys that get through a whole show riding their volume and stepping on a few pedals. That's all I need. That is exactly what I've found now. Thinking like this indicates a massive flaw in human thinking these days--a lack of ability to see/accept/respect that other people can have vastly different experiences, perspectives, opinions, and motivations that can be equally as valid as our own.I honestly don't get the infatuation with (X). I mean, isn't the goal at the end of the day to be (Y)?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I see playing and tone exploration as two separate endeavors.
I knew this would happen.
Look I get that you can have a muscle car and not actually drive it because you like to tune the engine. Or you like the restoration part. Or whatever.
But from from reading many posts here, it seems, I could be wrong, that for a certain segment, the vast majority of the whole thing is centered around just the gear aspect, and hardly anything else. People post about how close the Axe is to the Helix, yet these same people talk about buying and then selling the same item 3 or more times. As I said, I don't get that. That part seems quite counterproductive, if I make the assumption that we all started this process by wanting to play guitar.
If it's indeed a blend of the 2, that makes complete sense to me. And even if people sit down and spend lots of their time creating crazy presets, just because they can, and want to see just how many awesome sounds they can get, then again, I understand that appeal.
But I still have a hard time understanding that if the end goal is not to actually make or play music, which again, is what it seems to be with many, that part, I just don't understand. But that DOES NOT MEAN that I can't respect someone if that's all they want to do.
We have these endless discussions of what's wrong with the Fractal UI, saying the same things over and over, yet hardly any activity at all in the actual guitar playing/theory forum. It just makes me wonder how many of those people really play their guitar.
And don't forget..., just as someone can say, "All ways are valid, and should be respected", or however you want to word it, that also applies to my thoughts on the subject.
I'm a shit player, but a super-star tweaker
Like a modeler version of Das Keyboard?Lose the labels and it’s perfect.
What do you call a bass player without a girlfriend?Plot twist: I don’t even own a guitar!
