Fractal Talk

I can only speak (?) {or should it be "type" (?!)} /// for the FM3 Turbocharged mk II(2) model. I turned GAPLESS and SPILLover on /// off for this high-tech comparison and then (and only then) proceeded to look at the cpu / DSP METER and subtract ~69 from ~70. This approach gave an estimated %1[uno(one)]

MAYBE EVEN LESS

... difference ......

it's a fucking GAME CHANGER

I've posted a question specifically to this point over in the FM3 Forum so we'll see if it gets an official / formal response (?)

But your test seems very promising.

Ben

PS: You've outdone me with the italicising and bolding ;)

Honestly, I don’t want to say some bullshit but…
When I updated to fw8 and activated gapeless my cpu percentage was LESS… than with the previous fw… I just still can’t believe it

Is cliff black!?

^^ Good to hear !

I'm guessing that perhaps to overcome any gapless cpu hit, they even further optimized the code to run even more efficiently and actually counter-balanced [ and then some ] to what otherwise might have been a cpu hit (?)

Just guessing.

DSP use seems to be reduced a bit. I can switch the plex delay in some of my old presets to a super power hungry Golden Shower with all the pitch shifting and stuff and not go over the limit. With gapless enabled. G A M E C H A G N ER

More Initial thoughts as for Cygnus 3, there is def a different vibe and feel to the amps , seems less grainy, more focus in the midrange, tighter bottom end, although i found i had to up my gain on my current 1959SPL Treble patch, and i made a few adjustments to some Parameters and its like wow this is different, i made a quick 2203 Patch and Ohhh the growl and bark was awesome, Hot Damn !!
i like the tone/feel very much
also im am super impressed with the new noise gate
Have i tried all the other new amps and goodies ?

aint nobody got time for that GIF

It's funny to think back to everyone (including me!) speculating whether the FM3 was capable of gapless switching and that it would definitely require at least 5-15% DSP. And of course it couldn't possibly run the new amp algorithms, even before CX3.
That doesn't mean there hasn't been a ton of work done to figure out how to achieve that on the lesser hardware. Fractal has overall done a great job where only very few Axe-Fx 3 features have been axed from the FM3, pardon the pun.
