So the FM3 hs been rendered Useless I see no Spring Reverb

My personal FM3 experiences an occasional white screen of death, amongst other minor issues that won't be caught on a GC inspection but would make me queasy selling privately, all of which add up to rendering it "time to be sold at the nearest GC I never go to". The question I've been pondering for a couple weeks is -- do I replace it with a new FM3 Mk II? A new FM9 mk II? A used III mk I? I'm pretty sure the always-on fan of the III would drive me bonkers in my office.

White screen of death, fan always on, input shielding…

Have you ever sent it to be evaluated or serviced?

Update without a hitch as usual, A few certain amp and reverb parameters changed from my settings will see if they are better if not ill revert to my Settings and Compare
all i can say for now

I’ve certainly downplayed the idea that updates hitting all 3 units at once was of much importance, but just from a visibility/appearances standpoint, I can certainly see the benefit of it now.

Gapless switching on the FM3 is huge. Not just negating the need for kitchen sink presets but for the footswitching planning that comes along with kitchen sink stuff. I’d just have the thing setup so one switch does Presets/Scenes and the other two were Bank Up/Down in either mode. I’m actually thinking that’s the best route for me to go with a live rig in a metal band where I’m not needing to utilize so many footswitches.

I've had a III in my office before. I'm aware of both just how quiet it is, and just how ludicrous I am :bag
Funny thing though, when I bought it, it was on FW14, and the fan never came on. I mean, NEVER. Some FW later, it started coming on a lot.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the FW, and perhaps just me adding a lot more presets...? But I seem to remember it happening all of a sudden, right after a FW update.

Wow Just a few Tweaks to My patch and yes I notice a difference
what i can say is that Noise gate is fantastic, i barely have any noise while playing or while sustain is fading for me thats amazing
One can say for me battling the Noise demons this is a game changer

Ok, so I just spent a solid hour getting lost, jamming with the 50W Plexi model and there’s definitely some mojo going on with the new firmware. That signature “bark” feels like it’s “exploding” when say, hitting an A chord. The feel of the power section seems to be more distinguishable when it’s lowered or increased.

I’m going to dig into some of the new models this evening and re-dial in a few of my presets. But so far… :chef

Come on @FractalAudio, do it! 😂
I feel exactly the same here. Those plexis are now wild as they should be.
The low end definition is fabulous, the high end is shockingly realistic and the anger and the dynamics are perfect… speed legato lines are finally popping as they should.

No FR. I just don’t have the time to frequently do updates that change my patches. It’s not a big deal to do an upgrade that adds a few new toys, but if it changes anything I already have I just don’t have the time to mess with it.

I’m down to change my preset approach (and usually do) once or twice a year to try some new things and see if I can make a better mousetrap. That’s about all I can do though, more frequent and I just can’t stay on top of it.

Gapless seems to use about 1%.

Is that preset or scene?

If that %1 cpu hit figure is right for the Turbo Version for pre-set switching (?) .... that would, mathematically speaking, put the cpu hit on the OG FM3 at ~ %1.1 ... either way for either unit .. that's a total wash / no change from CX2 pre-gapless.

Again ... if the above is right ... that would suggest that the gapless feature has been further optimized since it was released for the Axe 3.

Amazing work by Fractal ... <= no surprises there !

I can only speak (?) {or should it be "type" (?!)} /// for the FM3 Turbocharged mk II(2) model. I turned GAPLESS and SPILLover on /// off for this high-tech comparison and then (and only then) proceeded to look at the cpu / DSP METER and subtract ~69 from ~70. This approach gave an estimated %1[uno(one)]

MAYBE EVEN LESS

... difference ......

it's a fucking GAME CHANGER
