They are doing what they must do: improving a subpar unit in that price bracket.

That said, it was imposible to launch a new modeler from scratch and be on par with the best. Imposible. But then, they should´ve priced it accordingly.

Now, they are on the right way. Still far from the best, and more expensive too, but if they keep on improving... maybe in 3 or 4 years they could at least compare.

Yeah the sheer amount of features Line6 and Fractal have sets the bar high. It is just really hard to match without years of development. So it's better to try to do something different rather than try to do the same thing, but so far the TMP doesn't really have anything but a more newbie friendly user interface going for it.

I have a TMP and FR-10 inbound. It was a deal circumstance and I decided to bite, even though I said many times that I really, really don't want a touch screen device. I already have a Fractal FM9T, a GT-1000CORE, and a Tonex. Oh, and I guess the Ampli-Firebox and ACS1 still count, too.

Be sure to report back & let us know what you think.....

That...is a lotta hardware. Two (primary and backup) is my limit. After that, just a bunch of plugins for variety.

Still, curious to read of your experience.

Good for you. It should be a top tier device in no time if the updates keep coming. As stated, get your review template ready. 😀

Edit. I was impressed at the TMP here. I'm sure with some eq, it would be closer.

Welcome to the TMP club! I think you will love it and as more and more updates continue to come out I think it's just going to continue to get better. The FM9 from my understanding is an awesome unit and it obviously has a big head start on the modeling market as it's been around a while, but the TMP unit is holding it's own I think and they really seem to be listening to and implementing suggestions from customers as well as fixing any bugs as they are discovered. The FR10 and FR12s are fantastic sounding and I absolutely love mine. Hope you do too. Bet you probably wind up ordering a second FR10 to have a full stereo rig once you hear it. I went with one FR12 initially and shortly after wound up ordering a second FR12 and all I can say is it's outstanding! Enjoy!

Let us know how it compares

Hopping from one thing to a completely different brand of products is a drag. Way too much time wasted relearning a different product each time you make that hop.
That's a reasonable opinion. I don't really have that problem. Maybe it's my technical career, or maybe just the fact that I don't have a lot of hobbies, but I really don't have any problem switching from one modeler to another. I remember things pretty much seamlessly.
