Yep, there is definitely a "Boss way" of doing things and of course there is a sonic signature. The key to all of these devices is using them at their strengths and getting the best of them for what they are. That's why there is more than one horse in a horse race.
My helix brotha, I hope one day we get our pew pew noisesYou know what you could do with this that you can’t do with the Helix? Trigger a pitch sweep from the input envelope.

Not trying to be a contrarian, but wouldn't that kind of eat into their own existing offerings....so they knew this going in.Well you're dead-right on this one for sure. I've posted all the details at TOP as there is a lot of interest there, but in short:-
-> the USB Port is not a Midi Host
-> the USB Port does not receive any Midi-In data or Midi Sysex ... so adding say an MC6 is out of the question
-> it has no 5 Pin or TRS Midi I/O Jacks
-> it only sends and receives Midi data to and from a PC
-> whilst you have 15 Blocks, you are stuck with the 3 x onboard FSW's and can only add 2 x FSW via the Ctrl 2 and 3 1/4 Jack on the back - so no more than 5 in total
Here's the really "good" part .... you CAN add a Midi Foot Controller but it can ONLY be done via Bluetooth so you have to buy the B/Tooth Boss Plug, and then, the Bluetooth Plug on the GX 10 ONLY recognizes and works with the Boss B/Tooth pedals ...... turns a $399 unit into a $550 unit ..... and then you get the joy of the huge B/Tooth latency when changing anything ?!?!?!?!?
Turns what could have been an amazing unit for the money into a totally sh*t buy unless you are cool with just 5 x fSW's
Boss at their best !
I wish I could agree, but I don't. The amps still sounds like eq'ed dist pedals running direct to me, there's something "plasticky" artificial about the tone that doesn't agree with me.This is sacrilege but I think LT gets some of his best tones in his Boss videos
For future threads, anyone complaining about no MIDI on a sub 400$, clearly beginner oriented, clearly not pro stage oriented unit, will get banned from this dimension.
I'll allow it for now, but consider yourselves warned.
There should not be "huge BT latency" if it's executed well. I currently use up to 4 different wireless devices with the Luminite Graviton M1, which itself is connected to the CME WIDI Jack to control my pedalboard, and it all works very much seamlessly.
My guy, the ACS1 costs more than the GX10 on its own. You’re talking apples to blenders here.F.w.i.w ... I am sadly very far from a beginner :) ..... Walrus ACS1 MK1 or MK2 6 x Amp Pedal + extras ..... full Midi Spec for all features and settings and increments for everything included via Midi TRS Jack ..... and Walrus are probably - quite literally 1,000,000 times smaller in size and financiality than Roland-Boss.
I rest my case Your Honor !
Exactly. Not everything is supposed to be the centerpiece of a kitchen sink rig. It’s $400 and it does a ton of shit and it’s from a brand that makes historically solid hardware.
