Boss IR-2 - Very compact amp/cab sim pedal

boss is smoking crack to use celestion IRs, celestion IRs, i don't know how, all sound like shooting an IR of a cab clone

ITs not a joke and the pedal is like $100.

See, I love my MS-50G. Even if it'll leave my main board one day soon, it'll see a lot of usage for years to come. I also even still love my G3. It's great for acoustic guitar and the onboard looper is second to none of the other "after the fact" loopers for a number of reasons.
There's also some FX Zoom has really done well.
But if anything, their drives and amp models have always been behind the competition, especially in terms of dynamics.
Now, while things have improved quite a bit, to me it still seems the weak spot in their units. At least I haven't heard anything yet that'd make me think of any Zoom unit to become a serious contender for any kind of amp simulation job.

And fwiw, IMO it's no different with the IR-2. The Natural amp is working pretty well live, the X-Crunch is ok in case you have to use it (which sometimes is the case for me when I need to use a suitcase/backpack rig), but others than that, sorry but no cigar. Workable but falling short on the playing fun side.

this is RFIER with redwirez recto oversize 4x12 mixed with a little silverface 1x12 and some baked in ambience from the PCM60 module and a bunch of eq and a little giganator. 6 IRs bounced down to 1 when you export

Decided to play around with the IR-2 in the loop of the Axe 3 last night. Honestly there's some surprisingly good sounds in the IR-2.

The Crunch channel with the gain turned down is a really nice pushed clean. It's overall smoother than any similar amp in the Fractal with a lot less spikey high end. And there's a midrange push too that makes it just cut right through sonically. It would be really easy to use just that channel with a drive out front for live use.

Other models are hit or miss and it's not a perfect replica of real amps, but for your average guitarist looking for a direct or preamp solution I actually think it's a lot easier to use than something like an IR-X and of course the HX Stomp type things.

If I didn't already have other devices to cover this ground, I am sure I would have bought this pedal. I purchased a Two Notes C.A.B.M. + to do this with a few years ago. It does a pretty good job too.

I've had an IR-2 for a while, and I really like it.
