What are we watching now?

need to see that. I just saw the Investigation Discovery documentary. His father talked a bit in the documentary and I just felt for him, seem such a nice old man and from what i can interpret a good father. But they touched a little on a divorce that Dahmer didn’t take too well, and also the part about his mother having pregnancy problems with epilepsy. Apparently they gave her a lot of medicines… one has to wonder. They say people can be born with evil latent in the genes or whatever, but medicating a pregnant woman with heavy epilepsy medicines…. Yeeez… but I suspect it’s different today.
On a philosophical and half religious point of view… was it nature protesting about the child that was coming to the world? Maybe he wasn’t meant to be… but medicine saved him early on… or damaged him. Wtf…
All I know, Dahmers statements about everything gave me cold chills and kept me awake longer that night.
I remember watching his trial on TV in the early 90s. If memory serves that sick fuck drove new definitions into law books that didn't even exist to cover the heinous shit he did.

New Babylon Berlin Season Starts Today and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
IMHO a great show and certainly different than the formulated norm.

Yeah movies and television have been historically reversed in order of what I like to consume the most but over the past 7-10 years; TV has shifted quite a bit. There has been great stuff obviously way before that but streaming flipped that switch quickly for me. The other side of that is a show that has worn out it's welcome and is existing solely to provide a paycheck for everyone involved. I get it; but not going to sit and watch it.

So back on Dahmer because we need to finish it.

:farley
Episode 6 is some sad stuff. Probably the most heartfelt a Ryan Murphy production has ever been. Before the hammer scene, at least :hmm

Just finished it last night. Lots of ups and downs in it. And crazy how you start to feel bad for Dahmer.

Really well done show. And acting.

That’s really the sign of a great actor to me, when they can pull off some heinous sh*t but they delivered the character so well you feel bad. Evan definitely did his homework, it’s pretty crazy how well he nailed the body language and speaking manner.

I think in this context, because Dahmer’s crimes were as bad as they were, there was never any real attempt at showing the human side of him, just the vicious murderer. Maybe that’s why I dig into the psychological aspects of these shows/documentaries, because we really on hear about the evils of it all and not as much how the person was actually feeling about things.

I watched the new Dahmer series on Netflix this week.

Didn’t realize viewing it was going to be as polarizing as it was, there’s a discussion on it on that other forum and several people keep trying to shoehorn in the idea that it’s just the gore and violence those of us watching are after. Man, I watch interrogation videos nonstop, I LOVE true crime and the gore/violence has NOTHING to do with it, I can’t stomach that sh*t.

But I’m fascinated with the mentality behind a lot of these guys and the Dahmer series was a really great insight into everything that led up to him becoming what he became. Pretty good series, I just had to fast forward/turn my head a few times.
Did you watch Mindhunter (NFLX)? Sorry, still catching up.

Currently watching House of the Dragon and too lazy to watch the latest Westworld based on how crappy it’s gotten.

Can’t believe this! I hope Apple makes it a long run, because it deserves it.

I remember being very… VERY taken by the book 10 or so years ago. I mean… damn.. there were many grown man sobbing moments for me with that book. I was glued to it every night. Such a great story. I did also struggle with the supposedly authenticity of the story, whether this actually happened, if it even happened and how much is true. But in the end… it’s a great story. I recommend you go read the book or listen to the audiobook at least. I recall Brad Pit was up for a movie version But i never happened.

Never heard of the story. I generally trust Apple with their streaming content though.
