What are we watching now?

Gary Oldman alone.
Heart emoji for Gary Oldman. He's the GOAT.

I saw a snippet of fantastic soft core porn on that show, and that told me it's probably not worth seeing. I mean, I love softcore porn, but to me when you mix it in with something serious, it's almost always there as filler, and the movie usually has bad acting, bad directing, bad writing, and great tits. So I'd rather just watch porn then separately watch a real movie haha.
I watch a lot of European movies that seem to be very well acted, directed, written etc with "tits" so to speak. Betty Blue, La Reine Margot and Manon des Sources immediately sprang to mind.

Hollywood never seemed to be able to cope with real ones and prefer silicon anyway.

Oh Man, you're right about True Romance. I have to say I'm not a Tony Scott fan in general. I watch his films because there are usually some interesting and cool things about them, and for pure testosterone, no one has a more aggressive feel. But True Romance is a special one. Gary Oldman alone. That film is the reason I bought an all region blu ray player like a decade ago, so I could buy the film they're watching in the theater, Street Fighter with Sunny Chiba. I bought the whole series of movies back then and realized that line in the film is right: "Well, he ain't so much a good guy as he's just a bad motherfucker." And an old Sunny Chiba is the sword maker in Kill Bill, by the way!

I think for Tony Scott that Top Gun is a special film, cool in many ways, but stuff like The Fan, Beverly Hills Cop II, Spy Game and others feel kind of empty to me. I did like things about Man on Fire, but I still wish it had been a different director and better writing haha.
True Romance is one of Tarantino’s best films.

Seriously.

Caught up with House of The Dragon and fully on board now. Some stuff was irritating me early on in the first season but the ship is now on course

The thing that HotD has over GoT is it is much easier to follow. Fewer characters and battling houses keep the story flowing a bit better. As much as I liked GoT (well, until the last two seasons, anyway), there was always too much jumping from here-to-there and so many characters and story arcs that it was impossible to keep up.

Cool. I'm so used to this with American films, I didn't even consider other countries' directors might be able to handle it! I saw Queen Margot around the time it came out but all I remember was how hot Isabelle Adjani was. I don't mind seeing how hot she was again to see what I think of the film now.

Watched a flick I had on my list for a bit last night that just came to Shudder. Loop Track. Guy who is CLEARLY disturbed goes for a walkabout in the NZ forest. Though he is disturbed probably to the point of harming himself; he runs across a couple of fellow hikers that sort of distract this unspoken plan.

Great bits of humor that you don't expect and a really uncomfortable performance from the lead. Cool thing is you aren't sure what's happening for a LONG time so it holds out that suspense quite well. It's not a great film by any means; but I really do like these quirky little indie horror flicks. Another great NZ horror flick with a bit more of the humor vibe is Housebound.

In this case, despite it eventually going against the grain of what you expect and going down an arguably older era rabbit hole; it was surprisingly good. Recommended to kill some time.

Another Shudder release (In A Violent Nature) comes out tomorrow and I am super stoked on it! It is supposedly a riff on Jason from his POV. It has garnered mixed reviews but I am open minded enough to know what to expect going in. Looking forward to it \m/

Man, I hope I don’t get flamed for this…

But I started watching Season 1 of Curb Your Enthusiasm last night.

As a HUGE Seinfeld fan, I never quite got on with this show when it first aired. Not sure why. But a few episodes in, and I can say that I wish I wouldn’t have waited. Absolutely hilarious show.

Now I’ve got 12 (new to me) seasons of TV to binge watch. :rofl

Did the same thing with Parks & Recreation recently. (y)

Was a blast getting to know the peculiarities of all the characters and watching the series find its groove in binge fashion.
Not sure I would have hung with it when it first aired - having to wait between episodes and all.

I'm the opposite LOVE curb but every time I try and start seinfeld I can't get anywhere. Perhaps just a smidge before too my time to get into :idk

People talk about the show being brilliant as if the entire thing was. I'd say the vast majority of episodes from the first 3 years pretty much suck.
Seinfeld went through massive growing pains until they found what really worked. From that point on we're talking lots of brilliant stuff.

If you ever want to give it another go start with season 5. (y)

I've considered jumping in later and wondered if that was a good idea. I don't think I can ever try and sit through any of those first few episodes ever again

Seinfeld was, and is still to this day, a very divisive show. Most people I’ve run into either love it or hate it. Rarely do I hear someone say “it’s ok.” But yeah, the comedy is a little dated, especially if you didn’t live during that era.

Same. I have a friend who beats me silly about the fact that I never watched it, and
then accuses my life experience of being tragically incomplete and shallow until I do.
