What are the best modelers available today?

I think it sounds really good because of the player, but imagine reamping it with Slammin’s captures like Blix did:

Hard to say but the tonelab recording is in the same ballpark. Once it is eq-ed to fix the mix ... I don't think anyone can say if it's a modern modeller or the tonelab. Of course Blix's clip sounds very good because he's also a very good player.

The Thing is though the Fractal Amp and Cab Blocks are so powerful I dont think any Modeler is even close
And hence why i chose the Fractal route.
But you know
YMMV
As for the OP post Nothing wrong with His enthusiasm and love of his Fractal

Partially it's been like that ever since the 1st gen POD days. You could go a long way when tweaking recordings already. For me, the main issues have always been dynamics and live band compatibility. I went through hoops to make the POD work, but it never really did (with the exception of one musical theatre production, but that was a POD XT already), so I went for Boss GT units (GT-5 and GT-10) instead - which sounded less like the real deal but felt much better under my fingers and for me delivered a better live experience, too.

Oh btw, I played a Vox Valvetronix amp (kinda like the amp version of the Tonelab) for around 5 years in a rather large ABBA tribute show and it's been quite excellent. Almost bought one myself (for that act it was provided by the production company), but the realtime tweaking options (such as throwing in an effect here and there, add another gain stage, etc.) were extremely limited. Still a really decent sounding amp, though (played one on a rehearsal half a year ago), easy to edit, absolutely straight forward, zero truly bad tones plus some really nice ones.

Yep -- Vox has done this with some of their amps too. Valvetronix comes to mind which at least started 20yrs ago. My brother and nephew had one and you could get some very usable tones, although the speaker was nothing special. I put a V30 in it and that brought it up to a good place.
Vox makes cool stuff. I love the Valvenergy pedals. After getting all 4, my dirt search is finished. No more.
I don’t know why they didn’t do more with those
I remember there was a VX100 black head that had some tubes in the pre and an updated power amp.

The demo guy was blonde
and his hair looked like he has put a fork in an electric socket
But I digress

The general info that I got on why it was never released was the Vox exec said it duplicated the ACs way too closely and they would lose
Sales

And after that they just kind of kept that tech in the under $500 bracket

I guess Blug guitar is the closest thing these days to a top shelf valvetronix

We need another forum…this on is all FAS, the other place all Helix…where do the smart and above average good looking people with Kempers go? ;)
First To reverb to sell then get a FAS or Helix so they can then participate in said forums

There's an overemphasis on that stuff in every modeler discussion, which totally ignores how good a lot of the Fractal effects are too!

But if I were to suggest one of the current modelers to someone, I'd probably choose the Helix Floor or LT instead because outside the US, they're better value for money, require no additional gear, are more user friendly overall and still sound very good. The main reason why I don't use Helix is that Line6 does not make the right hardware format for me.

"Software amp solutions" have finally made it tone-wise and feel-wise.

I would add NeuralDSP's plugins (such as their Boogie MkIIC+/++ or Soldano SLO-100) to the list...

...as well as the very free yet very killer Neural Amp Modeler:

This is someone's Mesa Boogie MkIII redstripe snapshot. All I did was use IIRC a good V30 iR, manually double the tracks (pan wide L/R), slap a little EQ, micropitch, reverb and tape satch on it, and instant John Sykes Whitesnake 1987 tone.

It's an interesting take.

I’m a big fan of my Axe FX III but the OP (and posts like this) are just odd. I don’t know why people feel the need to validate their decisions on forums.

Do I like my Axe FX more than real amps? No
Do I like my Axe FX more than plugins? No

But I love it for what it’s great at, and it has a hell of a lot going for it. The best for anyone is always subjective because everyone has different needs.
Lighten up, Francis.

Relax man. It’s nothing more than wearing a T-Shirt of a favorite band or your Alma Mater.

It’s just an expression of joy or support…
