Does anyone actually want these super tiny modelers?

Do you think the Tone-X took the placebo place of the tube preamp you ran all those years?

No, I'm using the ToneX One for a tube power amp sim with my various tube preamps which reside in my FM3's FX Loop, both because I'm a lazy tube snob, and also to give the FM3 dual amp capabilities which it lacks vs the FM9/AFX3. In any case if using guitar cabs which I rarely do these days (mostly DI'd with IEM's), I use solid state power to drive the speakers. This gives me control over the virtual tube power amp's "sweet spot" independent of SPL (loudness), and saves a ton of size and weight.

Yes, I do want my Tonex One. Not as the only available solution, but as part of the arsenal. It's a fantastic option as an amp+cab sim on a pedalboard combined with stomp boxes for FX, as a very portable solution for practicing or traveling, and as a convenient back up when you plan on using other gear. It can also be used as an USB audio interface for recording when you can't or won't use your main interface, when travelling for instance.
If the Tonex One was slightly larger (e.g Boss size) and would fit a few more knobs, would you find that preferable to the current one?

Anyone know about this modeler?

No, for my usage with tube preamp gear the size and controls work fine.

If I was using it for a complete rig then for sure, though for what I do which is clean through pushed mid-gain for the most part, I much prefer component modeling to wave shaping at this stage, though of course I still prefer real HV tubes in my preamps, and luckily I can have that with modeled/profiled everything else including my second amp via the FM3's amp block.

Yeah, too small. I like 'em bigger.

I used an AMT Legend 2 C2 pedal for many years. I could run it into the fx return of any amp, or straight to the PA.
It has two channels and the distorted channel has a three band EQ.
I think this design was as close to perfection as I can imagine.

I think the ToneX One is too small.

Dont know but box used to be an innovator but now slags in modeling
Well, VOX is innovating in the analog domain via the Korg NuTube, kudos for that!

After a stage volume rehearsal tonight, I've come to the conclusion that the Vox Copperhead Drive in preamp mode cannot compete with my JCM800 preamp (DOH!), and that's with both through the same Tonex One tube power amp capture and FM3 cab block IR's (UA OX and OwnHammer), DI'd to FOH. The VOX Copperhead did sound real good for single note work, though it didn't have the depth of sound I like for chord work which is somewhat understandable seeing a portion of it's gain is solid state.

I think Vox if they're going to do a NuTube series two, should consider using two NuTube dual-triodes, and suffer with whatever power requirements they require, i.e three gain stages with a cathode follower and passive tone stack. I'd love to try that concept!

I like this observation! Vox took a great step with this series but fell short. DEPTH NEEDED.

I have a TONEX One and I pretty much love it. The new MOOER GS1000 is also killer, but it's bigger for sure. I don't want to act like a spamming guy, but please find below how these pedals work for me.

The GS1000 is interesting for sure! I’m glad someone else mentioned it…
