What are the best modelers available today?

The ultimate modeller doesn't exist since no one has yet to implement a tube based strictly analog modeller.
Maybe with the exception of the MGP-1A..

In reality though the old Vox Tonelabs already sounded good enough. The rest is dependent on the player's guitar skillz and ears.

As demonstrated here:

I think it sounds really good because of the player, but imagine reamping it with Slammin’s captures like Blix did:

Well, i guess the speaker emulator is digital but … There ya have it.

I do have my eye on a MGP-1A though.

Me on my death bed: man if I would have just spent more time arguing online with strangers about the bast ever modeler. I really feel like with a few more hours i could have changed someone's mind and made myself feel better about my purchases.

Fuck man lol. Some people have never shown up and rocked a party and seen people get down to your music and threads like this especially on tgp make that super obvious. Just use whatever works for you, there all really good at this point, and focus on the music.

Fractal makes great units. The modelling is outstanding.
With that said, you can get great tones out of all of the main players.
There are things I like and dislike about each one.

I've been using the TMP for a couple of months now with solid success, especially live. I really like the unit. There are always things to improve on and I'm sure it will happen at some point soon.

With that, I keep a nice tube amp around to keep the ears honest.

Use what works for you!

Yep -- Vox has done this with some of their amps too. Valvetronix comes to mind which at least started 20yrs ago. My brother and nephew had one and you could get some very usable tones, although the speaker was nothing special. I put a V30 in it and that brought it up to a good place.
Vox makes cool stuff. I love the Valvenergy pedals. After getting all 4, my dirt search is finished. No more.

The smilie in the OP means he's joking :hmm:beer

While I may perhaps agree on FAS units possibly being the best all-in-one solutions (even if there'd be some other contenders coming in a very, very close second), if I was to slap together a modeling based setup with money being no objection, no FAS device would be harmed in the making.
