When modeling sounds royally right!

Of course, it's the player and his de-tuned guitar. But any of the modern modelers can get you here today.

Yes, there are differences - but they're all good - Fender, Helix, Fractal etc.. Focus on the audio reproduction side of things - that's where the major gains are to be had. I still rely on a good collection of guitar cabs because I find the sound just right. But going forward, hopefully a good "FRFR" will come out!

I said it elsewhere, but the Plexi model on the TMP is really surprising. Not great out of the box like the factory preset for say the Plexis on the Fractal FM9, but absolutely smoking once you add a little love. Head-scratchingly enough, the 4x12 factory Greenback cab is one of the worst to pair with this. I have a preset with the factory Greenback speakers in the Friedman 4x12 coupled the G12-75 speakers in the 2x12 Silver Jubilee cab and it sounds as good as this video if not better.

I think one thing that really hurts the first impressions of the TMP amp models is that there are almost NO "straight-up" factory presets. The first 20 or so should be like Helix and Fractal where you get "just" the amp and cab, with maybe a few common accouterments like boost/reverb/delay/wah mapped to footswitches or scenes. As it stands, the factory presets go directly into the "mysterious preset name" mode where it could be a reference to a band...or a song.....or a genre.

Sounds good but the reverb is pretty spot on too and that def helps the tone. Then again I would expect, or perhaps hope is a better word, that Fender would bring on the reverb and do it well. I would probably snag a TMP “Core” if they were $500.
