The "Going To An Audition" Thread

Charlie is definitely in the Contemporary Blues and Old Time Country realm. Can
tell that is what he loves and enjoys playing the most. Tuning down and blasting
drop D riffs was not in his wheelhouse.... nor his gear's wheelhouse. Still fun.
It was like Robin Trower meets Jason Aldean meets Godsmack.

At least you're not going to an audition, being asked to swing by and pick up the drummer and his kit, meeting up in a run-down, stank-ass trailer, in a meth-addled part of town, with the other guitarist showing up 2 hours late, then wondering if you should take their offer to join, but have rehearsal at your house, because, well, they were pretty good players, and you're not sure if you should JUST SAY NO FUCKING WAY TO ANY OF THAT SHIT!!

I mean, WTF? He actually had to ask!

We'll see what happens. I may have to work on my Musician Yoga poses and
be flexible enough to make a move to another instrument.

Made plans to meet up with Charlie tomorrow at a Music Festival another musician
friend throws annually. The dude sets up like 3 stages in his expansive yard and bands
throw down all weekend.

jamming in 2004, so we know each other well. Priority = Fun!

Don't think for a bloody second I didn't realize how long it took you to realize how funny this was. Or something.

Incoming Wahs are not set to arrive until tomorrow, so those will have to wait
another week for getting litmus tested with the Band.

Have some friends visiting from out of town who are going to come and hang
tonight, so not sure what we'll end up playing. Nothing acoustic that's for damn
sure!





Singer, Guitarist, and our Old Drummer do an annual fishing trip that I am sure
at least 2 or 3 hours will be spent jawing about. It's a full 3 weeks away, but I
have seen this movie before so I know what to expect.

Also, not sure what's up with our Bassist situation. Feels all a bit like The Doors
at the moment.

Drummer/Not Drummer ghosted us yesterday. Didn't reply to the group text. Didn't
show up. Then texts this morning.... "Sorry, Fellas.... forgot it was Thursday."

It's Thursday once a week. And we have had this Convo before. So we
decided he is done. I moved to the Throne and manned the Sticks last night,
and I called Charlie at 5:30PM to see if he would come and jam with us. He's
literally there within an half an hour.

Brought a Tele and his amp and pedalboard. Killed it. Such a great player with
killer tone and feel. Much better on 6 strings than I am. Probably 5 strings, too.

Not sure what the plan is going forward.... but I have decided that as much as
I love playing guitar I will take one for the team (always have) and swallow my
pride and man the Drums.... and even play Bass.... if we find yet another Drummer.

There's no "I" in Band.

is just dying to come out.

Charlie seems stoked that I invited him and likes all the other guys. Retired military
so I know he is reliable, and lives with honor. That makes 3 of us in the Band now
that are Vets.

Army, Navy, and Air Force represented. Just need a Marine and a guy or a gal in
an Orange jumpsuit.
