I think he's more than a little boring, bland, a bit tepid, and lacking the kind of rawness and fire I associate
with Mastodon.
Maybe they want boring and bland (and easy to get along with and control) after years
of the Brent-shenanigans.![]()
Jay was KILLER in Suicidal last week. Super surprised on that, despite knowing what kind of drum skill Slipknot requires.I’m hoping they’re just casting a wide net and giving everything a live test. They spend a lot of time on the road so they gotta know they can all hang. There’s ample dudes who can play the parts, but man, they gotta find someone who actually cares about it.
This is why I’m never really opposed to a fan stepping in these spots. Jay Weinberg with Slipknot was a great example, dude grew up on Joey Jordison and knew to respect that in the band and still did his own thing. Todd joining Ryche. Ripper, etc.
How's his vocals and harmony ability?![]()
I wonder if John Mayer is available
Nick Johnston is touring with Mastodon
Well said on that Link Drew and yeah it dont fit nor does it workSecond solo in “Ember City”….another one of my favorite Mastodon songs fucking butchered.
And “More Than I Could Chew”…..he does good for the first bit, but by 2:05 it was fucking wank city. Fuck this shit.
I see a few heads and 4x12"'s behind Nick there.Side note but are they running a silent stage? They are the last band I thought would do that! So odd not seeing stacks of amps.
I love Nick Johnston. Great player. But not a good match.
Do you know who is a far better match? Kim Thayil. Love his solo in this song.
