The Food Thread

I made another batch of Bread yesterday with Stout Beer as the only liquid. It's
..... uhmmmmmm.... interesting. I feel like it needed some other kind of Flour to
mix in with the AP/Bread Flour. Rye. Maybe some finely ground Oats. It's not bad,
but it's not great either. :idk

I like experimenting and trying new things---even if that means you have to hit the
Eject button once in awhile. :stirthepot:rofl

Maybe try a touch of Oatmeal stout next time? Or something a bit sweeter.

Speaking of food, you know what's really simple and so good?

Get some vanilla wafers, turn them bottom side up, spread on some peanut butter, add a piece of chocolate bar, a fat marshmallow on top, place in oven on broil until browned on top. :grin
That used to be some good stoned food. :rofl

I am not a Cake/Sweets guy..... but there are a lot of Cake Recipes for
Cakes. Many of them including Chocolate and Coffee---which both
seem to be great pairings with Stout Beer.

Probably some Molasses would have helped.... but I didn't want the
Bread to be too sweet.

I used to bake a lot of bread years ago, one of my "secrets" were using malt extract, makes it extra tasty among other pro's.
This sums it up:

Thanks, Blix! :beer

I have tried the Diastatic Malt in my Pizza Dough (supposedly for a little taste and better colour)
but not in any Bread making.

So the Amateur Stout Bread was pretty damn great today. It needed Mustard.
Made an excellent Bread for a Sandwich.

Then I left a couple of slices out this afternoon to get dry and stale and then put it
in a bowl before lathering Soup over it. YUM! :love

I added in some Heavy Cream to cut the acid, some grated Parm, and more than a pinch of Red Pepper Flakes.

Not my Pic.

Kind of on a make stuff with Beer kick. Must have be on the rebound
from a dry January. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thinking some kind of Wisconsin-style Beer Cheese Soup today with
a bit more filler than is traditional. Maybe some added Potato & Sausage. :idk

Made some crispy orange beef and noodles tonight. It was so good I went back for seconds.

Annoyingly there's no leftovers for lunch tomorrow though, my son went to top up his water and forgot to close the kitchen door. Ten mins later I hear weird noises from the kitchen and find the cats having a good go at it.

They're now sleeping off their successful kitchen raid. I love them but sometimes I want to throttle them.

Oh man! I forgot how great those days were.

Don't have an in house Feline Friend now, but used to and
one time a friend gave me some lovely Elk Steaks from an
hunt he had. I grilled them to perfection. :chef Let them rest
on the Kitchen Countertop for a few moments. Went back
outside to turn the Grill off. Came back in and Boom! I think
I bellowed like Thor.

I was SO pissed. :hmm

RIP Pheobe! :hugitout

I love cats but they're jerks. All of them are loveable jerks. They bloody know it too.
