TGF Do Something Weekly Challenge Week 1 Thread

Dudes and Dudettes,
wow, there is a lot of great stuff surfacing in this thread!

Here is my submission:

My e-string broke on my third solo pass, still kinda figuring out what to play, so I took it as a sign, comped a guitar solo and commited.

Guitars is a Kraushaar Reste-Uschi with Schaller Golden 50s,
Rhythm guitars are a Jet City 20 with a Captor X, Cabs are Suhr Bella and BHG Guru, open 1x12s.
Solo guitar is a GH50L, Captor X, with whatever verb was on in the Captor and a generous scoop of H-Delay in the box, because I did not find the time to make the Laney play nicely with a delay in the loop. Cab is a BHG white Alien 4x12.
Bass is my no name Japanese Precision DI'd.
Drums is Superior Drummer 2.

Boy, I struggled with playing without stage volume. I have to figure something out, there.

Pussed out. I have some twists and turns I want to do but time is not on my side. Or desire to customize drum patterns (thanks Rev \m/). I'll listen to everyone's with fresh ears tomorrow with any luck

Good stuff! I was actually listening for a string break, too. :rofl

Jet City FTW! Love my JCA100HDM. Not sure if it would help, but I have a Little Black Box I used to run in the loop of my old JCA22H when I lived in a townhouse with neighbors who had no appreciation for the finer things in extreme metal... not sure what their deal was... :idk anyway, that and a set of headphones could let me push the snot out of the amp, have it sound stage loud in the cans and not really blow any paint off the walls.

The tone and overall feel reminds me of someone making Buckethead chill out and stick to a melody (which ain’t a bad thing cuz I wish he’d actually do that!) Really love the tones on here, man!!! That melody line just has that cool almost synth/almost guitar thing going on.

Man, I really love those rhythm tones! I’ve never even heard of that guitar before! It can be tricky without the stage volume thing, especially if you’re used to that interaction and the extra bit of sustain/meat it can bring. Still sounds killer, though!!!

So the whole time I’ve been working on mine, I’ve been fighting with the damn tone and this is generally something I don’t do at all. The way I pick and the way a ToM bridge sits causes my pick to hit the strings at an angle with the edge of the pick rather than a flat side of it and it‘s been so f*cking scratchy sounding it was horrible. I wasted the last few days trying to get around that, picked up my Solar last night and burned through it without an issue. There’s one problem out of the way!

Just a side note, I didn’t write these drum tracks, I just found them in SD3 and bounced them down. Anyone is free to edit them as they please to work for what they’re doing, I know I certainly am!

So last night, I went through and listened to everyone's submission. I quoted each one and had a great reply for each as they all kicked serious a$$ in their own ways :satan :chef :guiness:satan :chef We have so many submissions with great detail that the forum software wouldn't allow me to post it because of exceeding thread reply character limits :cuss

Thanks for the kind words and more than that; THANK YOU for all doing some killer clippage! This is going to be tough act to follow on a week to week basis :rofl

Thank YOU for participating, JT. I enjoyed listening to your contribution very much. Your track has a very nice melancholic atmosphere!

It’s also hard coming up with different adjectives or ways of saying “That was awesome!” to so many awesome submissions. By week 4 I’m just gonna be putting all :headbang so I don’t have to scrape the inside of my cranium for more words.

More like the Replacements meet Glen Campbell … and tipsy 🍸
who? :idk

I got your brother… Throw this on the record player and give it a listen.

One of my all-time fav albums.

The Replacements were a band out Minnesota, who were constantly drunk. I think they did a couple of stints early Dave Letterman.

I remember them. Didn’t realize they were from here though. Learn something new every day.
